ASUS has officially detailed the ProArt Mouse MD301, a new premium productivity mouse aimed at creative professionals and power users, positioning it directly against established options like Logitech’s MX Master series, and signaling a deeper push into the high-end accessories market.
The MD301 stands out by offering swappable left and right button switches, allowing users to choose between micro and optical mechanisms or mix both. This approach lets users fine-tune click feel while also extending the lifespan of the mouse, an area where most productivity mice offer no user-serviceable options.
This design tackles the most common long-term failure point in productivity mice: worn-out click switches. Rather than replacing an entire mouse every few years, users can swap individual components, reducing downtime, long-term ownership costs, and electronic waste a notable shift in a category that has traditionally favored sealed, disposable designs.
ASUS pairs this modular design with an ergonomic, right-handed shape and a SmartShift scroll wheel that can switch between free-spin scrolling and precise line-by-line control.
