Akasa 29.5mm 1U CPU Cooler Supports 125W Intel

Akasa has launched a new ultra-low profile 1U CPU cooler designed for rackmount servers and compact systems. It can handle processors up to 125 W TDP while staying within a strict 29.5 mm height limit. The AK-CC7409BP01 is built for space-limited environments such as enterprise, industrial, embedded, and edge computing systems where standard air coolers simply do not fit.

This 29.5 mm 1U cooler is made for system integrators who use Intel desktop processors inside 1U rackmount chassis, short-depth appliances, and compact server nodes.

According to the company, the cooler supports Intel LGA1700 and LGA1851 sockets. This includes 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Intel Core desktop processors, as well as Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chips. AMD is also expanding its desktop AI lineup with the Ryzen AI 400 Series, which recently launched with Copilot+ support. That makes it suitable for both current and next-generation platforms in dense rack deployments, including systems powered by chips such as Snapdragon X2 Elite used in devices like the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 7.

With official support for up to 125 W TDP, the AK-CC7409BP01 stands out in the low-profile cooler segment. Most 1U solutions are usually rated between 65 W and 95 W, depending on airflow conditions. Supporting 125 W in just 29.5 mm highlights the thermal requirements of compact AI systems, similar to hardware like the GMKtec 180 TOPS AI mini PC recently teased ahead of Panther Lake.

The cooler measures 90 x 90 x 29.5 mm, meeting strict 1U rack height requirements. Akasa is targeting compact server appliances, edge AI inference systems, industrial PCs, medical equipment, digital signage, telecom hardware, and other embedded platforms where vertical space is limited.

The cooler uses a copper vapor chamber at its base to manage heat more efficiently. Instead of relying on standard heatpipes, the vapor chamber spreads heat across a wider surface area before passing it into the copper fins.

Inside the chamber, a small amount of liquid absorbs heat from the CPU, turns into vapor, and then condenses back into liquid as it moves across the chamber. This continuous cycle helps prevent hot spots and keeps temperatures more stable, especially in compact builds.

Compared to traditional heatpipe designs, a vapor chamber distributes heat more evenly. That makes a noticeable difference in 1U systems, where limited space and controlled airflow leave little room for thermal imbalance.

For airflow, the cooler uses a UL-certified side blower fan. It delivers up to 28.04 mm H2O of static pressure. High static pressure is important in 1U rack systems because air needs to pass through dense fins and narrow server channels efficiently.

The fan runs between 1200 and 5500 RPM with PWM control. This allows system builders to adjust cooling performance based on workload and noise requirements. At higher speeds, the cooler focuses more on thermal performance than noise, which is common in enterprise and always-on systems.

The dual ball bearing fan is rated for up to 80,000 hours of operation. This makes it suitable for continuous use in network appliances, edge AI nodes, and industrial control systems.

The mounting system uses spring-loaded screws to keep even pressure on the CPU. This helps maintain proper contact, especially in vibration-prone rack environments. Thermal paste comes pre-applied, making installation faster and easier for bulk deployments.

The AK-CC7409BP01 is priced at £51.80 or €49.80, roughly $65 USD based on current exchange rates. Availability is scheduled for Q2 2026 in the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia.

Akasa has not published an official weight figure. Since there is no confirmed specification, the exact weight remains undisclosed.

As compact systems continue to run higher-power CPUs for edge computing, AI inference, telecom workloads, and virtualization, 1U vapor chamber coolers with 125 W support are becoming more important in the enterprise and embedded market.
