Apple Plans to Boost MacBook Neo Production to 10 Million Units After Strong Demand

Apple is reportedly preparing to boost MacBook Neo production after early demand for the company’s budget notebook surpassed internal expectations.

According to new supply chain reports, Apple is considering increasing production to as many as 10 million units, nearly doubling earlier estimates that placed MacBook Neo output between 5 million and 8 million units.

The MacBook Neo launched earlier this year as Apple’s most affordable notebook, starting at $599. Its lower price has helped the device gain strong attention among buyers looking for a cheaper way to enter Apple’s laptop lineup.

The laptop runs on Apple’s A18 Pro chip, and previous reports claimed Apple initially used binned silicon that did not meet the standard for higher-end iPhone models. If production rises further, Apple may need to increase dedicated chip manufacturing for the MacBook Neo.

That could create pressure on profit margins, especially if Apple keeps the entry-level model at $599. Some reports suggest Apple may focus more on the higher-priced $699 variant to help maintain profitability, though no such change has been confirmed for the MacBook Neo 2.

The reported production increase comes ahead of Apple’s key retail periods later this year, including back-to-school promotions and holiday sales, when demand across Apple’s MacBook lineup typically grows.

Apple has not publicly confirmed the reported production target increase.
