ELECOM has announced the launch of the IST PLUS series, a brand new line of thumb-operated trackball mice. Built as a direct upgrade to the original 2023 IST model, this new version integrates key design improvements based on user feedback. The mouse aims to provide competitive thumb ergonomics alongside customizable hardware configurations for productivity users.
The IST PLUS supports both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, letting you pair and switch between multiple devices effortlessly. It houses onboard memory to store your custom button assignments and configurations directly on the hardware. This allows you to carry your personalized settings across different workstations without needing to run background software continuously.

What separates the IST PLUS from traditional trackballs is its modular support system for the 36mm sphere. Users can choose between a 360-degree low-friction ball bearing or a conventional Minebea-Mitsubishi bearing, both of which are fully interchangeable. For even more options, the pre-installed module can be swapped out for a synthetic ruby support or a newly developed ball roller that delivers a glide reminiscent of a silent bearing.

To keep work environments quiet, ELECOM equips the mouse with silent switches that reduce click noise. The physical design measures 96×126×52mm and is contoured to minimize hand strain during long work days. Weighing in at 120 grams without batteries, the pointer runs on standard AA batteries and includes a dedicated unit removal tool stored in the bottom of the body. This makes the hardware highly versatile compared to traditional portable options like the Sharkoon Fireglider One, prioritizing desktop stability and precise tracking over hyper-lightweight bodies.
ELECOM has not yet revealed the official retail pricing or global release dates for the IST PLUS series trackball mouse. The Japanese launch details indicate that the product will begin shipping in domestic retail channels shortly. Interested productivity users should keep an eye on international importers for wider availability details.
