Asus has officially launched the 2026 version of its ROG Zephyrus G14 GU405, one of the most popular compact gaming laptops, now powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra 9 processor and NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPUs, similar to recent RTX 50-series implementations covered in RTX 5070 laptop GPU listings.
The new Zephyrus G14 (2026) focuses on higher GPU wattage, improved sustained performance, and AI-powered computing, making it a strong contender in the premium 14-inch RTX 5080 laptop segment in the US market.
The new G14 (GU405) is powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 9 386H, featuring up to 16 cores and a dedicated AI engine rated at up to 50 TOPS. This puts it in line with Microsoft’s new generation of AI PCs, similar to laptop using Core Ultra chips seen in the ASUS ExpertBook P5 G1 Launches With Core Ultra and 96GB RAM in Lightweight Design.
Asus offers RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, and up to RTX 5080 GPUs with GDDR7 memory, aligning with high-end configurations listed in the best RTX 5080 laptops. Compared to the previous generation, GPU power limits have been significantly increased. For example, RTX 5070 configurations now reach higher sustained wattage levels, improving real-world gaming and rendering performance under load.
Asus is also moving to a larger 250W power adapter, which shows the focus is now on maintaining high performance for longer periods instead of short bursts. This should help with heavy tasks such as AAA gaming, 3D rendering, and AI-based workloads.
The display remains one of the highlights. It features a 14-inch OLED panel with 3K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports HDR, G-Sync, and Pantone validation, and now reaches significantly higher brightness levels, improving visibility and HDR performance.
Even with these upgrades, the laptop remains lightweight, weighing 3.31 lb (1.50 kg) to 3.48 lb (1.58 kg), making it easy to carry while still offering strong gaming performance.
The laptop comes with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM paired with fast PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. One thing to note is that the RAM is soldered, so you won’t be able to upgrade it later.

For connectivity, you get a good range of ports, including Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and an SD card reader, along with the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 support, similar to devices featured in the best laptops with Thunderbolt 4.
Pricing starts at around £2,899 (roughly $3,195–$3,600 in the US), while higher-end models with the RTX 5080 can go beyond $4,000 depending on the configuration.
