ASUS Teases Next-Gen Zenbook DUO for CES 2026, Reveals Dual-Battery Design

ASUS has released a short teaser confirming that the next generation of the Zenbook DUO will debut at CES 2026. The update signals a major redesign for ASUS’s dual-screen laptop, addressing durability and battery life concerns common with multi-display devices.

The reveal is scheduled for January 6th at 9 AM PST, and the company has shared a 22-second video hinting at some of the biggest design changes to the DUO lineup since its launch.

The Zenbook DUO series is known for its dual-display layout, lightweight build, and flexible workflow for creators and professionals. The new model appears to take things several steps further.

A New Hinge and Robust Build

The teaser showcases a redesigned hinge mechanism that appears thicker and more robust than the current model.
ASUS describes the hinge as offering “next-level durability,” suggesting the company has reinforced the folding and angle-adjustment system. This change will improve long-term reliability for users who frequently switch between laptop and extended-workspace modes.

Two Internal Batteries for Extended Runtime

The most surprising aspect of the teaser is the dual-battery configuration.

Unlike the current Zenbook DUO, which uses a single 75 Wh battery, the upcoming version appears to split the power system into two internal battery packs. One is positioned beneath the primary screen, and the other beneath the lower display and keyboard area.

This design could significantly extend battery life, although ASUS has not yet shared exact capacity numbers.

Competing sources suggest that each battery may have a different capacity, but this is unconfirmed and should be treated as early speculation only. Thinner Bezels and Updated Keyboard Accessory

The video highlights thinner display bezels, giving the dual-screen layout a cleaner and more modern look.
A refreshed keyboard accessory is also visible throughout the clip. It appears larger, featuring a wider trackpad and deeper, more recessed keys for improved comfort.

ASUS introduced a detachable keyboard concept with previous DUO models, and this updated version looks more polished and aligned with premium ultrabook standards.

Port Layout Changes and Expected Hardware

The teaser briefly shows a new port arrangement, although the full list hasn’t been confirmed. The redistribution of ports could aid in cable management when the laptop is used in a multi-monitor setup. ASUS hasn’t confirmed the processor, but based on its 2025 lineup and industry trends, the next Zenbook DUO is expected to feature Intel’s upcoming Panther Lake platform.
Panther Lake should bring improvements in efficiency and integrated graphics, which are crucial for a dual-display device.

A Big Step for the Zenbook DUO Line

It appears ASUS is focusing on durability, longer battery life, and user comfort, three of the most important areas for a dual-screen laptop. The addition of two internal batteries alone is a significant design change. This could help address one of the most common concerns about dual-display systems: shorter runtimes compared to single-screen ultrabooks.

The Zenbook DUO line has always targeted creators, multitaskers, and travelers who benefit from a portable second display. These updates suggest that ASUS is preparing a more refined and capable version for 2026.

CES 2026 Announcement Scheduled

ASUS will reveal full details during its CES 2026 livestream on January 6th at 9 AM PST. The teaser was officially shared on the company’s X (Twitter) account and hints at further announcements under the #AlwaysIncredible CES lineup.

PCVenus team will continue to monitor for updates and will publish the full specifications once confirmed by ASUS.
