Chinese memory manufacturer Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has begun full production of its LPDDR5X memory chips, marking another step for China to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor market.
The company confirmed during the IEEE 2025 ASICON conference that the new generation of LPDDR5X products is now being mass-produced.
CXMT’s lineup includes dies with 12GB and 16GB capacities, as well as chip solutions with 12GB, 16GB, and 24GB of memory. The company is also offering LPCAMM modules in 16GB and 32GB options designed for compact devices and AI applications.
The LPDDR5X family supports data rates up to 8,533 Mbps, 9,600 Mbps, and 10,667 Mbps. Mass production of the first two versions began earlier this year, while the fastest version is currently being evaluated by customers.
CXMT stated that these chips are backward compatible with LPDDR5, making them suitable for a wide range of mobile and computing products.
Compared to previous versions (LPDDR5), LPDDR5x memory offers faster transfer speeds and lower power consumption, a significant improvement for modern devices and AI workloads that rely on efficiency and high bandwidth. Industry analysts view CXMT’s progress as a sign that China’s domestic chipmakers are steadily narrowing the technological gap with established players from South Korea and the United States.
The company’s development comes as it prepares for its long-awaited initial public offering (IPO) in Shanghai. Reports suggest that CXMT could achieve a valuation of up to 300 billion yuan, or approximately US$42 billion. The company has launched IPO consultations for mid-2025 and is working with leading Chinese investment banks to advance the process.
