Keychron has introduced a new gaming keyboard called the Keychron Q5 HE 8K, expanding the company’s lineup that also includes products like the Keychron V10 wireless mechanical keyboard. It is part of the company’s magnetic switch keyboard lineup. The keyboard is designed for gamers and power users who want very fast input response and advanced customization features.
The Q5 HE 8K uses a compact 1800-style layout, also known as a 96% layout. This design keeps the numeric keypad but reduces the overall width of the keyboard. Because of this, it takes less desk space than a traditional full-size keyboard while still offering the benefits of a numpad.
The Q5 HE 8K uses Keychron’s Ultra-Fast Lime magnetic switches, which rely on magnetic sensors instead of traditional mechanical contacts. The switches support adjustable actuation, allowing users to set the trigger point between 0.1 mm and 3.35 mm.
The magnetic switch design also supports features such as Rapid Trigger, Dynamic Keystrokes, and analog input, similar to mechanical keyboards with rapid trigger technology. Rapid Trigger helps keys reset instantly when pressure is released. This allows faster repeated key presses during gameplay. Dynamic Keystrokes allow different actions based on how deeply a key is pressed, depending on the system RAM performance and hardware configuration. The analog input feature can simulate controller-style movement in compatible games.
One of the main highlights of the Q5 HE 8K is its 8000 Hz polling rate. The keyboard communicates with the computer up to 8,000 times per second when connected to compact desktop gaming systems. Most standard gaming keyboards run at 1,000 Hz. The higher polling rate can help reduce input delay and improve responsiveness in fast-paced games that also rely on modern gaming GPUs for high frame rates.
Khe keyboard uses a 6063 aluminum chassis. The aluminum body improves durability. It also uses a double-gasket mounting design that helps reduce vibration and provides a smoother typing feel.
The keyboard includes OSA profile double-shot PBT keycaps. These keycaps are more durable and resist shine better than common ABS keycaps. The keyboard also features south-facing RGB lighting that allows customizable per-key lighting effects.
For customization, the keyboard includes a programmable rotary knob and dedicated macro keys above the numpad. Users can control media, adjust settings, or launch custom commands using these controls.

The keyboard can be customized using the Keychron Launcher web tool. Through this tool, users can remap keys, set macros, and adjust actuation points directly from a browser.
The Q5 HE 8K also supports onboard profile storage. This allows users to save multiple keyboard settings directly on the device. A hardware switch lets users quickly change between Windows and macOS layouts.
To support the high polling rate, the keyboard works in wired-only mode using a USB-C connection. Wireless connectivity is not included because a wired connection ensures stable performance for the 8K polling rate.
The Keychron Q5 HE 8K is priced at $239.99. It is available in black and white colors through Keychron’s official online store. The keyboard joins other magnetic switch models in the lineup, including the Q1 HE, Q3 HE, and Q6 HE.
