NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs Release Date, Price, and Specs

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000

While NVIDIA fans are not getting the latest Ampere Series GPUs, leaks of prices, release date, and specs of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series graphics cards are heavily speculated in the rumor market.

There is a massive demand for NVIDIA graphic cards in the market. And the American giant GPU king is not looking satisfying in its supply chain systems.

Nowadays, pricings of graphic cards are at an all-time high due to their unavailability. The global shortage of chips, Pandemic paralysis, and crypto mining crises are all behind that situation.

Today’s article titled “NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs Pricings, Release Date, Specs “will discuss all these things in a simple, easy, and well-connected way. So stay tuned till the end.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs: Ada Lovelace Pricings

Nothing is officially announced about pricings of the most anticipated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs. And there are also not many rumors about it in the market.

So we can predict its prices from different aspects like disruption in the chips supply chain system, competition with rivals, Intel’s entry into the GPU market, GPU scalping, whopping GPU demands of crypto miners, and the company’s pattern.

Disruption In Chips Supply Chain System

BBC is reporting that the global chip shortage crisis is worsening with every passing day. And it is impacting all industries that use semiconductors in their devices.

Their latest survey results reveal that 150 firms confirmed that for the late 2021 use, they had left just five days’ stocks. At the same time, that figure was 40 days in 2019.

So if that situation persists, the pricings of upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs will not be stable. Fans are already trying hard to get NVIDIA’s Ampere Series GPUs recently launched.

NVIDIA Spent US $10 Billion To Restore Their Chips Supply Chain Systems

Techspot reports that GPU giant NVIDIA is all set to spend at least US $10 Billion to achieve full manufacturing capacity for its upcoming product NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs.

According to the leaks of the famous YouTube tech channel Moore’s Law is dead, NVIDIA will use Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s 5N process mode in its upcoming 4000 series GPUs.

It is worth noting that TSMC’s 5N processing mode is far better than Samsung’s 8nm process mode, which was utilized in Nvidia’s Ampere Series GPUs.

So if Nvidia succeeds in meeting its demand for new GPUs as much earlier as possible, then we can say that pricings of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs will be normal.

Competition With Rivals

Intel is competing with GPU giants NVIDIA and AMD in mid-range GPUs. Intel Arch Alchemist GPU is rumored to come very nearly to be launched. They’re intended to keep their prices normal for making their space in the specific GPU market.

Similarly, AMD is set to launch its new GPU, namely RDNA 3. Tech pundits believe it will give tough competition to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs.

So overall, NVIDIA has to compete with its rivals. This competition also includes updated specs with attractive pricing. So MSRP of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs will not be much higher than our expectations.

GPU Scalping

GPU Scalping may be a new term for many readers. Some smart scalpers use bots for massive buying of GPUs from official GPU websites on releasing dates. Then they resell them on some auction websites like eBay and StockX. Thus they get heavy margins of profits from regular users.

This GPU Scalping is also rising, and it is a big reason behind recent price hikes for GPUs. So NVIDIA has to do something with this to tackle possible price hikes for the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs.

Whopping GPU Demands Of Crypto Miners

Jon Peddie Research institution reported that crypto miners acquired 25% of all GPUs manufactured in the first and second quarters of 2021.

Further, the report claimed that the pandemic disrupted supply chains and whopping GPU demands of crypto miners are dual combo reasons for super exciting GPU prices in the first half of 2021.

Bitcoin was around $6000 in March 2020, and it was around $60000 in September 2021. Again, after two months, in November 2021, it plummeted to around $36000.

Nowadays, crypto miners are not looking to acquire as many GPUs as possible because their cost of mining is not matching with crypto profitability.

So overall, situations are towards normalcy regarding GPU prices. We hope the gradual or complete lifting of pandemic restrictions, betterment in the chips supply system, and crypto fluctuating will become a cause for standard prices of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs.

NVIDIA’s Pattern Of Price Settings

Just have a look at NVIDIA’s Pattern Of Price Settings for its released GPUs.

GPU Model NamePrice At Launch

To know about the prediction price range for NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs, we may say that all factors, as mentioned earlier and NVIDIA’s pattern of price settings, lead to these prices.

The Lovelace 4060 should be around $375 to $400, Lovelace 4070 should be around $550 to $600, and Lovelace 4080 should be around $800 to $1000.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs: Lovelace Release Date

Here comes the disclaimer again NVIDIA has nothing officially announced regarding the release date of Lovelace GPUs. So there are also some leaks and some predictions from reliable sources on this subject.

Famous Twitter GPU Tips-leaker Kopite7kimi

Famous Twitter GPU tips-leaker Kopite7kimi initially tweeted that NVIDIA has started Lovelace GPU’s internal and external testing and is set to release it before Autumn 2022.

Later on, he tweeted again that it’s more probable that Lovelace GPUs may come in the third quarter of 2022.

Well, he had leaked many tips regarding Lovelace GPU specs. He had also tweeted that it’s also possible that NVIDIA may skip 4000 series GPUs and jump to launch directly 5000 series GPUs.

Twitter GPU Speculator Gremon55 and NVIDIA’S Release Pattern

Twitter GPU Speculator Gremon55 predicted the Lovelace GPUs release date as September 2022. Well, NVIDIA’s release pattern also corroborates it. Ampere 3080 was also released in September 2021. And NVIDIA is consistently releasing its GPUs with a difference of 2 years.

It is worth noting that NVIDIA released its flagship models like 3080, 3090, and 3080/90 ti before the lower end 3060. So here it’s also discerning that Lovelace 4080 will come first, followed by 4090 and their ti versions. And in February 2023, Lovelace 4060’s release is expected.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs: Lovelace vs. Ampere Specs

It is better to understand the basic concept of any graphic card, its purpose, and its working manner.

The basic purpose of any graphics card is to perform billions or trillions of calculations needed for optimizing the colors and timings of monitor pixels. So it is linked with better image formation tasks on your displays.

Similarly, a graphic card is like a mini-computer as it has a GPU, a graphic processing unit that is like a CPU for computers. It has VRAM like computers have RAMs.

Now NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs are beasts because of carrying superior graphics capabilities. And because of that reason, it will be the most powerful GPU in the future market.

And It is highly believed that NVIDIA’s most advanced upcoming 4000 series GPU would be RTX 4090. So we will try to compare RTX 4090 with RTX 3090 in the domain of all of these specs; Cuda Cores, TFLOPs, Clock Speed, VRAM, L2 Cache, PCI Express connector, and Power Consumption.

Lovelace Nomenclature

Nothing is officially announced as far as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Series GPUs’ specs are related except its Lovelace Nomenclature.

NVIDIA took the name of its upcoming 4000 series GPUs on Ada Lovelace. She was an English mathematician and writer and was considered the first computer programmer.

Lovelace VS Ampere GPU Specs: Cuda Cores

Cuda means compute unified device architecture. This term belongs to NVIDIA’S custom programming language. Just like a standard CPU has 4 to 8 cores to perform different complicated tasks like algorithms and instructions, graphics cards have thousands of Cuda cores responsible for performing tasks specifically related to graphics renderings.

Ampere 3090 had 10496 Cuda cores. Whereas Lovelace 4090 would have 18432 Cuda cores according to 3D Center’s December leaks. Most Lovelace GPU Specs are taken from a security breach incident that helped publicly publish NVIDIA’s classified information.

Lovelace VS Ampere GPU Specs: TFLOPS

TFLOPS means Trillion floating-point operations per second. They measure the overall computer’s performance capability.

Floating numbers mean non-fixed digits after decimals; approximation is inevitable for processing them. Due to more TFLOPs, GPU can crunch more data, more digits are taken, and approximation is acquired.

I know you may be baffled by these terminologies; simply understand that TFLOPs increase frame rates in games and improve ray tracing features.

Comparison Between Ampere And Lovelace TFLOPs

Ampere 3080 had 36 TFLOPs. At the same time, there are many speculations regarding the amount of TFLOPs of Lovelace 4090.

  • According to 3D Center’s leaks, Ampere 4090 would have 66 TFLOPs. That’s simply double that of those Amperes 3090.
  • Greymon55 claims that Lovelace 4090 is going to have 92 TFLOPs. This claim was posted in 2021, countering the claim of 3D Centers leaks. This figure also doubles that of Ampers 3090s.
  • Wccftech also corroborates with Greymon55 in this scenario and believes that Lovelace 4090 will have 92 TFLOPs.
  • Kopite7kimi further goes beyond that trajectory and possesses a view that Lovelace 4090 will smash the 100 TFLOPs barrier. And it is all set for gaming war with AMD’s upcoming Radeon 7000 series GPUs.

Lovelace VS Ampere GPU Specs: Clock Speed

Term GPU clock speed is referred to the GPU’s ability to retrieve and interpret graphical instructions. That ability determines how fast the GPU is for completing more tasks. It’s measured in Gigahertz.

Ampere 3090 had a clock speed of 1.4 Gigahertz, and its boost clock was recorded as 1.7 Gigahertz. Whereas Lovelace 4090 is to have a 2.0 Gigahertz clock speed and a 2.3 to 2.5 Gigahertz boost clock. Thanks for 3D Center’s published content.

Lovelace VS Ampere GPU Specs: VRAM

VRAM means video random access memory. It is like RAM in the CPU. This means it is the essential data GPU needs foremost for graphics-related processes.

It is responsible for better image loading times and high-quality resolutions. More VRAM means better handling and rendering of 2D and 3D images.

Ampere 3090 had 24GB VRAM at its launching time. Whereas Lovelace 4090 is also rumored to have the same configuration of 24GB GDDR6X VRAM. Although it has the same memory and interfaces, it will beat Ampere 3090 because it has a better clock or memory speed.

Lovelace VS Ampere GPU Specs: L2 Cache

L2 Cache is important for speedy retrieval of data that GPU uses repeatedly. GPU initially looks for it as it is more powerful and quickly accessible than VRAM.

Ampere 3090 had a 6MB L2 cache. Whereas Lovelace 4090 is going to have a whopping 96MB L2 cache. This information refers to the cyber attack that exposed almost all information about Lovelace series GPUs.

Minimum L2 CacheCache is 32MB in the lowest Lovelace GPU that will be launched. It seems that NVIDIA is following the path or responding to AMD’s rDNA 3 GPU lineup’s increased and improved L2 cache.

Lovelace VS Ampere GPU Specs: Power Consumption

Ampere 3090 had 350-watt power consumption, and its ti version GPU reached the maximum of 450 watts. Whereas power consumption of Lovelace 4090 had many rumors spreading in the market. Let’s have a look at some of them.

  • Kopite7kimi predicts that Lovelace 4090 will consume 800 watts of power. That is double the Ampere 3090 ti’s power consumption.
  • Website notebook heck.com predicts that Lovelace 4090 will consume 600 watts of power. That figure is double the Ampere 3090’s power consumption.
  • Famous YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead predicts that Lovelace 4090 will consume no more than 700 watts of power.
  • Famous Twitter GPU leaker Greymon55 predicts that Lovelace 4090 would consume 600 watts of power.

My wish about the power consumption of the Lovelace 4090 is that it should not raise more than 600 watts.

Lovelace VS Ampere GPU Specs: PCI Express 5.0 Power Connector

The main benefit of using PCIe 5.0 is to get stunning transfer rates of data; 33 Giga transfers per second or 3.94 gigabytes per second. And it can also provide 600 watts of power. So PCIe 5.0 is inevitable for those users who want maximum utilization of their GPUs.

Because of these benefits, many are switching to using PCIe 5.0. Intel’s Alder Lake CPUs are going to be upgraded with it. AMD’s upcoming CPUs and Radeon Cards are also opting for PCIe 5.0.

So if Lovelace 4090 will consume around 600 watts of power, then it has no option but to go with PCIe 5.0.

Final Words

After reading a lot about Lovelace 4090 GPU Specs, you can conclude. That Lovelace 4090 will be double or probably more than Ampere 3090 in performance. Because of these summarized reasons.

  • It will be built on the 5N process by TSMC, which is far better than the 8nm process by Samsung.
  • It has more than double Cuda cores, more core clock speed, a massive hike in L2 cache, more TFLOPs, PCIe 5.0 enabling, etc.
