TCL CSOT is rumored to be preparing a new dual-mode gaming panel with 4× refresh rate switching, moving from 160Hz in high-resolution mode to 640Hz at lower resolution. A launch window around Q3 2026 is being reported.
The jump goes beyond standard dual-mode designs, where refresh rate typically doubles after switching resolution. A 160Hz panel usually reaches around 320Hz in low-resolution mode, while this design targets up to 640Hz.
Current information points to a setup with a high-resolution mode at 160Hz and a lower-resolution mode at 640Hz. A 4K and 1080p pairing is likely, although exact resolutions have not been confirmed.
Panel type has not been disclosed. TCL CSOT produces both OLED and IPS panels, and either option remains possible at this stage.
Similar designs have already been shown by other manufacturers, including the AOC AGON Pro AGP277QK 1000Hz dual-mode monitor. HKC has introduced a 4K dual-mode panel that reaches up to 800Hz at lower resolution, while ASUS has demonstrated 3× and 4× refresh rate switching in its recent gaming monitors.
The report also aligns with TCL’s recent display roadmap. Earlier panels from the company include a 31.5-inch 4K OLED model with 240Hz and a dual-mode 1080p 480Hz option, along with other prototypes pushing refresh rates beyond 500Hz at lower resolutions.
Panel size, final specifications, and commercial products remain unconfirmed.
