Xiaomi is reportedly preparing a new 14-inch ultra-thin Windows laptop powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors. According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the device is expected to weigh under 2.2 pounds (around 1 kg), positioning it squarely in the premium thin-and-light category.
The leak suggests two processor options based on Intel’s newest Core Ultra platform. One version is said to use the Core Ultra 5 325, reportedly built on Intel’s 18A manufacturing node. It is described as an 8-core design with a 4 Performance + 4 Low Power Efficiency layout and boost speeds up to 4.5 GHz. A higher-end model may feature a 16-core Ultra 7-class chip in a 4 + 8 + 4 configuration, reaching up to 4.8 GHz and paired with Intel’s Radiant B390 integrated graphics. These specifications are based on supply-chain information and have not been confirmed by Xiaomi or Intel.
If accurate, the system would combine a lightweight chassis with relatively high-performance silicon. That raises interesting questions about thermal management and sustained performance, particularly in a device targeting portability. Thin-and-light systems often prioritize efficiency over peak output, so real-world cooling design will likely determine how much of the processor’s boost potential can be maintained under load.
Memory configurations appear unusually generous for a laptop in this weight class. Reports point to a 24GB RAM model with 1TB of storage, along with a 32GB RAM option using the same capacity. For a 14-inch system this light, that level of memory suggests Xiaomi is targeting developers, creators, and power users rather than entry-level office buyers.
The Core Ultra platform also integrates a dedicated NPU for accelerating on-device AI workloads in Windows 11. That enables features such as local transcription, image processing, and Copilot-assisted tasks without relying entirely on cloud services. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed what specific AI features it plans to highlight or whether it will introduce proprietary software tied to its broader ecosystem.
Xiaomi last released a Xiaomi-branded notebook in 2023 before shifting laptop efforts toward its Redmi sub-brand. A return under the main Xiaomi name would signal renewed focus on the premium Windows segment, where 14-inch ultraportables remain highly competitive.
There is no mention of a larger 16-inch version at launch, suggesting Xiaomi is concentrating on mobility and efficiency rather than workstation-class expansion. The target audience likely includes business travelers, students, and remote professionals who want strong performance in a compact form factor.
