Lenovo has expanded its business portfolio at MWC 2026 with the new ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 5, introducing updated Intel and AMD platforms, larger battery capacity on the 14-inch model, and a significant shift toward easier servicing.
Alongside the T-series refresh, Lenovo also unveiled the Slim 5i Ultra and Yoga Slim 7i Aura during its MWC showcase. Rather than redesigning the T-series visually, Lenovo has focused on durability, modularity, and platform flexibility for long enterprise life cycles.
One of the most meaningful upgrades this generation is battery capacity. The ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 now supports up to a 75Wh battery, replacing the previous generation’s maximum 57Wh configuration. That represents a notable increase for the 14-inch model. The larger ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 also moves to a 75Wh pack. However, that is a reduction from the 86Wh battery offered in the prior T16 generation. The shift standardizes battery capacity across both sizes but changes endurance expectations compared to earlier models.
Repairability is another major change. Both laptops now achieve a 10 out of 10 iFixit repairability score. Lenovo redesigned the internal structure to simplify maintenance. The bottom panel is easier to remove, the battery uses a more accessible mounting system, and USB-C ports are modular rather than soldered permanently to the motherboard. The keyboard remains replaceable, and internal components such as the SSD and optional 5G module are serviceable. For IT departments managing large fleets, these changes reduce downtime and extend usable lifespan.
Lenovo’s enterprise direction at MWC also included modular concepts such as the ThinkBook Modular AI PC, reflecting a broader focus on serviceability.
Processor options include Intel Core Ultra Series 3 chips with vPro support and AMD Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors, internally known as Gorgon Point. AMD’s broader Ryzen AI 400 Series expansion also extends to desktop platforms, signaling a wider enterprise push across form factors.
Intel variants of the T14 introduce LPCAMM2 memory for the first time in the ThinkPad T-series. Lenovo previously detailed its shift toward LPCAMM2 memory in Core Ultra systems, highlighting higher bandwidth with improved serviceability.
LPCAMM2 allows higher bandwidth LPDDR5X performance while maintaining serviceability, a shift away from fully soldered memory designs. AMD configurations continue using traditional SO-DIMM slots. Maximum memory capacity reaches 64GB on supported configurations.

The difference in memory architecture between Intel and AMD models is one of the more important technical distinctions this generation. Intel systems using LPCAMM2 benefit from higher efficiency and cleaner internal routing, while AMD systems maintain broader memory upgrade flexibility through standard SO-DIMM modules. Enterprises selecting between platforms will need to weigh those architectural trade-offs.
Connectivity remains consistent with ThinkPad’s business focus. Both models retain RJ45 Ethernet, HDMI, two USB-A ports, and two high-speed USB-C connectors. Intel configurations support Thunderbolt 4, while AMD variants offer USB4. Wi-Fi 7 is available on select models. Lenovo has chosen not to remove legacy connectivity, maintaining compatibility with wired office environments that still depend on Ethernet and HDMI.
Display options remain varied. The ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 continues offering multiple IPS panels in common business resolutions. The ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 introduces a new 2.8K OLED option in addition to IPS variants. The OLED panel provides higher contrast and deeper blacks for users who require improved visual clarity for content review or extended reading sessions. Bezels are slightly reduced compared to the previous generation, though the overall design language remains unmistakably ThinkPad.

An optional 5MP camera with computer vision and vHDR is now available on both models. This higher-resolution sensor improves clarity in varied lighting conditions during video conferencing. Lenovo has also enlarged the speaker system to improve meeting audio. The classic ThinkPad keyboard remains unchanged, retaining 1.5mm key travel and the TrackPoint pointing device. A new Cosmic Blue color joins the traditional black chassis for 2026.
Security features continue to revolve around ThinkShield, covering firmware and hardware layers. Intel configurations with vPro maintain remote management capabilities, which remain essential for enterprise deployments.
Availability and Pricing
Availability begins in April 2026. European pricing starts at €1,399 for the ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 and €1,499 for the ThinkPad T16 Gen 5. US pricing has not yet been confirmed and will vary by configuration.
The update does not reinvent the T-series visually, but it introduces meaningful structural and platform changes. The increase to a 75Wh battery on the T14, the adoption of LPCAMM2 memory on Intel models, and the 10/10 repairability rating represent practical improvements aimed at organizations planning multi-year deployment cycles.
