HP EliteBook 6 G2q Launches With Snapdragon X2, OLED Display, and 28-Hour Battery

HP has introduced the EliteBook 6 G2q, a 14-inch business laptop built on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 platform. The announcement was made during HP Imagine 2026, where the company focused on running more AI tasks directly on devices instead of relying on cloud processing.

Business laptops with on-device AI are becoming more common. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 also uses a different platform with a focus on efficiency and long battery life.

The model is offered with Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Plus processors. These chips are designed to improve efficiency while maintaining stable performance during long work sessions, especially for users who work away from a desk for extended periods.

ARM-based laptop processors are being developed alongside traditional x86 chips. The Snapdragon X2 Elite performance gains show how this platform is improving in efficiency-focused workloads.

This also places the EliteBook 6 G2q in a different category compared to traditional Intel and AMD business laptops, where efficiency and on-device AI capabilities are becoming as important as raw performance.

A dedicated neural processing unit handles AI workloads locally. Tasks such as summarizing documents, drafting emails, and organizing notes can run directly on the device, which helps in situations with limited internet access and reduces the need to send data to external servers.

Support from more than 100 software partners is being expanded to make these features more practical. Applications used for documentation and collaboration are being adapted to reduce repetitive work through AI-assisted workflows.

Alongside AI processing, power efficiency plays an important role in this model. HP states that the laptop can deliver up to 28 hours of battery life on a single charge. Actual usage will vary depending on workload and settings, but the focus is on reducing the need for frequent charging during travel or long workdays.

Battery life is becoming a key factor in business laptops, especially for users working away from a desk for long hours. Devices listed under the best laptops for business students category also focus on long battery life and portability.

AI-focused processors are also appearing across other platforms, with designs like the Ryzen AI 400 series bringing on-device processing to more systems.

The 14-inch display is available in multiple configurations, including IPS and OLED panels. Options vary in resolution and brightness, with certain IPS variants reaching higher brightness levels suited for well-lit or outdoor environments.

For connectivity, the device includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and an integrated 5G modem. This allows continuous access to networks without relying only on Wi-Fi. HP also offers a service that can switch between carriers to maintain a stable connection across different locations.

New wireless standards are also appearing across devices. The best Wi-Fi 7 laptop category highlights systems that support faster connectivity and improved stability.

HP has reduced the thickness compared to the previous generation, making it easier to carry between workspaces. Security features are aimed at enterprise use, including intrusion detection that can shut down the system if physical tampering is detected, along with protections from HP Wolf Security.

The EliteBook 6 G2q is part of HP’s broader shift toward local AI computing, where more processing is handled on the device instead of external servers. This approach is intended to improve responsiveness while keeping sensitive data under user control.

HP plans to release the EliteBook 6 G2q in July 2026. Pricing details have not been announced yet.
