LG’s upcoming UltraGear 39GX950B gaming monitor has surfaced ahead of its official launch, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most advanced OLED gaming displays we’ve seen in 2026. As the world’s first 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor, it brings together ultra-high resolution, dual-mode refresh rates, and built-in AI upscaling that works without relying heavily on GPU power, pointing to a clear shift in how next-gen monitors are designed, similar to developments seen in LG UltraGear Evo 5K gaming monitors.
The monitor was previously shown at CES 2026, where it earned an Innovation Award, an event also covered in CES 2026 what you need to know. Now, newly published product listings have confirmed its full specifications and feature set.
The UltraGear 39GX950B comes with a 39-inch (38.86-inch actual) ultrawide OLED panel with a 5120 × 2160 resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Paired with a 1500R curve, it creates a more immersive viewing experience while still offering vertical space similar to a standard 32-inch 4K display. That balance makes it just as suitable for work as it is for gaming.
With a pixel density of around 143 PPI, the display delivers sharp text and detailed visuals. Compared to traditional 4K monitors, the wider 5K2K layout gives you more horizontal room to work with, reducing the need for a second screen and making multitasking smoother.

LG is using its 4th-generation Tandem OLED panel here, aimed at improving brightness, efficiency, and overall lifespan. The display supports 10-bit colour and covers 99.5% of the DCI-P3 colour space, which makes it a strong option not just for gaming but also for content creation and other colour-sensitive work.
The monitor runs at a native 165Hz refresh rate at full 5K2K resolution, aligning with trends in high-refresh displays like Philips Evnia 32M2N8900X. It also includes a dual-mode feature that lets you switch to 330Hz at lower resolutions, which is ideal for competitive gaming, especially in fast-paced esports titles. A 0.03ms response time, along with NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, helps ensure smooth gameplay with minimal blur or screen tearing.
A really useful feature here is LG’s built-in AI upscaling, a feature increasingly tied to GPU and display ecosystems, discussed in NVIDIA RTX 50 GPU supply cut 2026 memory constraints. It takes lower-resolution content and makes it look much closer to 5K2K using its own processing, so you don’t have to rely on a high-end GPU for a sharper image. That’s important because running games at native 5K2K is still quite demanding, even on powerful graphics cards.
LG has added AI Sound and AI Scene Optimization. AI Sound separates dialogue, effects, and background audio to make everything clearer during gameplay, while AI Scene Optimization automatically adjusts picture settings depending on what you’re doing—whether that’s gaming, watching movies, or working.

The monitor is rated at around 335 nits in SDR and can reach up to 1500 nits peak brightness in HDR. It carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, which helps deliver deep blacks, strong contrast, and more impactful highlights for both games and media.
For connectivity, it comes with DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), HDMI 2.1, and a USB-C port that can deliver up to 90W of power, along with a few USB-A ports and a headphone jack, similar to setups featured in laptops with Thunderbolt 4. You also get picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes, which are handy if you like working with multiple sources at once. On top of that, the stand lets you adjust height, tilt, and swivel, so it’s easy to set up in a comfortable position.
The UltraGear 39GX950B is expected to launch globally between April and May 2026, although availability may vary by region. LG hasn’t announced pricing yet, but given its specs and positioning, it’s clearly aimed at the premium segment.
