Huawei is now selling the MateBook 14 HarmonyOS edition in China, a thin-and-light laptop that targets premium ultraportables with a 14.2-inch OLED display, Kirin X90 processor, and a starting price of about $968. The chassis weighs just 1.33 kg, putting it in the same travel-friendly class as many popular laptops for business students and compact notebooks.
This model is one of Huawei’s biggest laptop pushes for HarmonyOS so far. The company highlights tighter cross-device features with phones and tablets, faster app access, and a desktop experience built around its own software ecosystem.
Huawei has not published detailed CPU or GPU specifications for the Kirin X90, but the company says the chip delivers faster app launches, smoother multitasking, and quicker large-file decompression in internal comparisons.
The screen is a major highlight, especially for users comparing premium OLED notebooks. It features a 14.2-inch OLED panel with 2880 × 1920 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Huawei also lists average Delta E below 1, 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, TÜV Rheinland eye-comfort certifications, and a 91% screen-to-body ratio.
Huawei also supports the optional M-Pen 3 stylus with Air Mouse controls for cursor movement, scrolling, and presentation shortcuts.
Memory options reach 32GB, while storage ranges from 512GB to 1TB depending on configuration, placing it among systems often considered in the 32GB RAM laptops category.
The base model starts with 24GB RAM and 512GB storage, while higher trims add 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD capacity.
It has the battery capacity of 70Wh. Huawei claims up to 21 hours of local video playback, 20 hours of online video playback, and 15 hours of voice conferencing under internal testing. Charging reaches 66W, with SCP, PD, and UFCS support, plus reverse charging for compatible devices.
Cooling comes from a dual-fan design rated for up to 40W sustained thermal output. Huawei also claims noise levels around 20 dB during light office workloads.
Ports include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB-C port, HDMI, and a 3.5mm audio jack, which remains useful for users comparing laptops with Thunderbolt 4 and modern connectivity options.

Huawei also promotes Wi-Fi 7+ connectivity when paired with supported routers.
The MateBook 14 HarmonyOS edition starts at CNY 6,599 (around $968) for the 24GB + 512GB model. A higher-end version with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at CNY 8,599 (around $1,261). Global availability has not been announced.
