MSI Launches MAG 275CQDF X24, dual-mode gaming monitor

MSI has introduced a new gaming monitor called the MAG 275CQDF X24. It’s a 27-inch curved display built for gamers who want both sharp visuals and very fast performance in a single screen. The main highlight is its dual-mode feature, which allows switching between high resolution and ultra-high refresh rates depending on the type of game, similar to the AOC AGON Pro AGP277QK.

Announced in late April, this monitor gives a clear idea of where the gaming display market is heading. More brands are now offering flexible screens that can handle both story-driven games and fast competitive titles, removing the need for two separate displays as seen with the ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCG Gen 2.

The MSI MAG 275CQDF X24 uses a 27-inch Rapid VA panel with a 2560 × 1440 resolution. It also has a 1500R curve, which helps pull into the screen a bit more, especially during gaming or watching content.

The monitor can reach up to 240Hz at WQHD resolution, which is same as the Titan Legion 27. But when switching to dual-mode, the resolution drops to 1280 × 720, and the refresh rate goes up to 400Hz. This setup is mainly useful for fast-paced esports games where higher refresh rates can make a difference.

MSI has also added a simple one-click switch feature. This allows users to quickly change between the two modes without going through complicated settings. It’s a small detail, but it makes the monitor much easier to use in real situations.

The display offers 300 nits of brightness and a 5000:1 contrast ratio, which is typical for a VA panel. That means deeper blacks and better contrast, especially in darker scenes. It also supports Adaptive-Sync to help reduce screen tearing, along with a fast 0.5 ms response time for smoother gameplay.

Color performance is another area where it does well. The monitor covers 96% of DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, along with around 131% sRGB, so colors look vibrant without losing accuracy. That makes it useful not just for gaming, but also for watching content or doing some light creative work.

The monitor includes one DisplayPort 1.4a port, two HDMI 2.0b ports, and a headphone jack. To get the full 240Hz or 400Hz performance, DisplayPort is recommended. HDMI connections may support lower refresh rates depending on the resolution used.

It also works with consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, thanks to VRR support. There are multiple aspect ratio options as well, so the screen can be adjusted based on the type of game. A rear joystick makes controls easier to access, and AI-based display adjustments help simplify the settings.

MSI has gone with a clean and simple design. The monitor features slim bezels, a curved panel, and a compact stand that doesn’t take up much desk space. It supports tilt adjustment, and VESA 100 × 100 mm mounting is included, making it easy to place on a wall or a monitor arm.

Early listings suggest it will be priced between €185 and €200, which comes to roughly $200 to $220. At that price, the MSI MAG 275CQDF X24 sits in the budget to mid-range segment, but the dual-mode feature gives it something extra compared to most monitors in this range.

This launch shows how the gaming monitor market is shifting, with newer panels like the TCL CSOT 640Hz panel. The need to choose between sharp resolution and fast performance is starting to fade, as both are now coming together in a single display.
