ASUS is refreshing its TUF Gaming 7 Pro lineup in China with two new models: the AMD-powered TUF Gaming 7 Pro Ryzen Edition and the Intel-based TUF Gaming 7 Pro Core Edition. Both laptops pair high-end HX-series processors with GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 laptop GPUs while keeping the thinner TUF chassis introduced this generation.
The Ryzen Edition features AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX processor paired with RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 laptop graphics, both carrying 8GB VRAM configurations. ASUS says the laptop can reach a combined TPP of 180W, with CPU power scaling up to 90W during heavy workloads and GPU power reaching 115W.
The TUF Gaming 7 Pro Core Edition expands the lineup further with Intel Core Ultra 7 251HX and Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus configurations. Buyers can choose between RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 laptop GPUs alongside 16GB or 32GB memory and 512GB or 1TB SSD options. RTX 5070 graphics are tied to the higher-end Ultra 9 processor tier.
Both models share the same chassis, cooling layout, and display configuration. ASUS is keeping the same power target across AMD and Intel versions, which is notable because gaming laptops with different CPU platforms often ship with different thermal or power limits.
The display is one of the strongest upgrades in the lineup, especially with the move toward high refresh QHD panels featured in ASUS ROG Strix G18 2026. Both laptops feature a 16-inch 2560 × 1600 panel with a 300Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and full DCI-P3 color coverage. ASUS also includes AGLR coating, combining anti-glare and anti-reflective treatment to improve visibility under bright lighting while maintaining contrast and color quality.
The chassis remains relatively slim for this performance class. ASUS lists thickness at 17.9 mm with a starting weight around 4.96 lbs (2.25 kg). Earlier TUF gaming laptops were noticeably thicker and heavier, while this generation moves closer to thinner high-performance gaming designs without reducing power limits.
Cooling relies on a dual-fan rear exhaust layout shared across both versions. ASUS claims the laptops can sustain up to 180W total power, which is unusually high for gaming laptops below 18 mm thick, a segment recently expanded by the Mechrevo 16 Ultra.
Battery capacity differs slightly between the two models. The Intel version includes a 90Wh battery, while the Ryzen Edition ships with an 80Wh unit.
Connectivity is stronger on the Intel model, especially with Thunderbolt 4 support found in systems listed under Best Thunderbolt 5 laptops. It includes one Thunderbolt 4 port, one full-function USB-C 10Gbps port, three USB-A 10Gbps ports, HDMI 2.1 FRL, a 2-in-1 3.5 mm audio jack, RJ45 Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 6E support. On the Ryzen version, the Thunderbolt 4 connection is replaced with a standard USB-C 10Gbps port because of platform differences.
ASUS is also upgrading multimedia features across the lineup. Both models include an FHD + IR camera setup, Dolby Atmos support, Hi-Res certified speakers, bidirectional AI noise reduction, and a keyboard with 1.7 mm key travel. The touchpad supports a 240Hz polling rate, which ASUS says improves responsiveness during gaming and gesture input.
The updated TUF Gaming 7 Pro lineup focuses on combining thinner chassis design, higher refresh QHD+ displays, and 180W power targets in gaming laptops that now sit much closer to premium performance territory than earlier TUF generations, including devices in the Best RTX 5080 laptops category.
Pre-orders for the Intel-based TUF Gaming 7 Pro Core Edition begin on May 8, with retail sales scheduled for May 15. ASUS has not announced final pricing for either version.
