ASUS introduced the ROG NUC 16 PC with Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop graphics, and QuietFlow cooling inside a compact three-liter chassis. The redesigned mini gaming PC pairs high-end gaming hardware with up to 1334 AI TOPS performance, support for 128GB DDR5-6400 memory, and a new removable stand supporting both vertical and horizontal placement.
The top-end configuration combines Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU carrying 16GB GDDR7 memory. ASUS claims the updated hardware delivers up to 2.3% higher 3DMark performance compared with the previous ROG NUC generation.
DLSS 4.5 support plays a major role in the upgraded platform. ASUS confirmed support for Multi Frame Generation and Nvidia’s newer transformer-based Super Resolution model designed to improve image reconstruction, motion clarity, and lighting detail during gaming and rendering workloads. According to ASUS, DLSS 4.5 can generate up to five additional AI-generated frames per rendered frame in supported games.
ASUS rates the ROG NUC 16 for up to 1334 AI TOPS alongside 16GB GDDR7 VRAM for local LLM processing, AI-assisted rendering, image generation, and accelerated creator workloads. Nvidia Studio support is part of the package for editing, rendering, and AI-enhanced production tasks.
Memory support scales up to 128GB DDR5-6400, placing the compact desktop far beyond normal mini PC gaming configurations. Storage support moves into PCIe 5.0 territory depending on configuration, while wireless connectivity covers both Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, matching ASUS’ recent focus on high-speed storage hardware with the ASUS ProArt PA40SU USB4 SSD enclosure.
The cooling layout received a major redesign this generation. ASUS built the ROG NUC 16 around its new QuietFlow cooling architecture combining three 102 mm fans with a dual vapor chamber inside the compact chassis. ASUS claims CPU thermal coverage improves by 12% compared with the earlier model, helping the processor maintain higher sustained clocks during extended gaming and rendering sessions.
ASUS upgraded SSD cooling as well with a dedicated heatsink layout capable of reducing SSD temperatures from 72°C down to 59°C compared with configurations running without a heatsink. Fan noise remains below 38 dBA under full workloads according to ASUS.
The ROG NUC 16 introduces the first-ever Moonlight White Edition in the ROG NUC lineup alongside the standard darker model. ASUS paired the metal chassis with a patented removable stand allowing both vertical and horizontal positioning depending on desk layout or entertainment setup.

Port selection remains unusually large for a three-liter gaming desktop. The compact PC carries Thunderbolt 4, dual HDMI 2.1 ports, dual DisplayPort 2.1 outputs, multiple 10Gbps USB-A ports, and 2.5Gb Ethernet connectivity. ASUS claims the desktop can support up to five 4K displays simultaneously.
GlideX support ships with the ROG NUC 16 as well, allowing screen mirroring, multi-device control, and extended display functionality across wired or wireless connections.
Chinese pricing for the refreshed ROG NUC lineup starts around 29,999 yuan, which converts to roughly $4,421. The Moonlight White Edition reaches around 30,999 yuan, or roughly $4,569, depending on hardware configuration. ASUS has not confirmed broader global availability yet.
