MSI introduced the MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 with a 26.5-inch 4K 165Hz QD-OLED penta tandem panel, 0.03ms response time, and US pricing set at $599.99. The new monitor enters MSI’s growing OLED lineup as one of the more affordable displays built around Samsung’s latest 4th-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED technology.
The display offers a 3840 × 2160 resolution alongside a 165Hz refresh rate and VESA ClearMR 9000 certification for motion clarity, matching specifications found in the Philips Evnia 32M2N8900X. Nvidia G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support are part of the package for smoother gameplay across both PC and console setups.
Samsung’s newer Penta Tandem panel architecture plays a major role here. The five-layer tandem OLED structure pairs with EL Gen 3 technology that MSI claims improves light efficiency by up to 30% compared with earlier QD-OLED generations while lowering power consumption at the same time, following recent advances in LG UltraGear 52G930B panel technology.
The monitor reaches up to 1000 nits peak HDR brightness and carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, along with a 1,500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for deeper blacks and better contrast. In standard SDR mode, brightness goes up to 250 nits.
It comes with OLED Care 2.0 protection tools and a 3-year burn-in warranty, an approach MSI has continued across newer OLED displays including the MSI MPG 322UR. MSI lists AI Care Sensor support as well, helping manage OLED protection functions during longer usage sessions.
Unlike some of MSI’s higher-end OLED gaming monitors, the MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 skips the newer Dark Armor protective film layer. The display still receives upgraded surface durability with 3H hardness rated at roughly 2.5 times stronger scratch resistance compared with earlier 2H coatings.
The Monitor offers 165Hz refresh rate with a 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time and Super Low Motion Blur support for clearer fast-moving scenes. The black-frame insertion feature works only at 165Hz and cannot operate simultaneously with variable refresh rate modes.
MSI claims 99% DCI-P3 coverage alongside Delta E≤2 factory calibration accuracy. Uniform Luminance controls are available too for users who prefer more stable HDR brightness behavior across different scene transitions.

The monitor supports several aspect ratio modes, including a dedicated 24.5-inch display mode aimed at competitive players who prefer a smaller active display area during esports gaming.
Connectivity covers DisplayPort 1.4a, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and USB Type-C, matching the port setup offered on the ASUS ROG XG34WCDMTG. USB-C charging specifications currently vary depending on the listing, however. MSI’s official specifications mention 15W USB-C power delivery, while some Amazon product pages reference up to 98W charging support.
Gaming-focused software features remain part of the package as well. MSI adds AI Navigator controls, Optix Scope functionality, firmware update support, and console-oriented gaming modes.

The physical design follows a flatter stand layout with a smaller footprint for easier peripheral placement on crowded desks. The ergonomic stand supports height adjustment up to 4.33 inches (110 mm), tilt, swivel, and full pivot rotation. Standard VESA mounting support is available too.
MSI currently lists the MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 through Amazon US for $599.99, although stock availability remains limited shortly after listing.
