ASUS has published new validation results showing Chinese CXMT-based DDR5 memory running at speeds up to 8,400 MT/s on an AMD B850 motherboard. The results were shared through the Republic of Gamers social media account in China as part of a brand anniversary campaign. This hardware validation is part of a wider industry trend, which includes reports that Apple is testing memory from CXMT for its consumer hardware.
Many motherboard and PC brands are adopting Chinese memory to reduce component costs and diversify supply chains. Testing occurred on the micro-ATX B850M AYW Gaming OC WiFi7 W motherboard using memory kits from Lexar and KingBank. Overclockers will be interested in these high speeds on mid-range AMD platforms.

The highest speed result was achieved using a KingBank RGB memory kit with a 2x24GB capacity configuration. This custom kit uses CXMT 24Gb memory dies to enable non-binary memory capacities per module. ASUS overclocked this memory to 8,400 MT/s with CL42 timings and verified complete stability during testing.
The company also tested two Lexar THOR RGB memory kits that use CXMT 16Gb memory dies. A 2x16GB DDR5-7600 kit successfully reached an overclocked speed of 8,200 MT/s with CL44 timings. In addition, a slower 2x16GB DDR5-7200 kit was validated at 8,000 MT/s with CL40 timings.
The validation tests were performed using BIOS version 1686 on the B850 motherboard. This firmware update is already available for download on global ASUS support websites, meaning the optimization is not restricted to the Chinese market. However, the manufacturer has not yet updated its official memory support documentation with these kits.
This validation effort follows a similar announcement from rival brand MSI, which recently showed CXMT memory compatibility on its own boards. PC builders can expect official Qualified Vendor List updates to roll out over the coming weeks. Consumers will need to monitor retail availability for these high-speed Chinese memory kits in Western markets.
