MSI’s latest BIOS for Intel 800-series motherboards pushes CXMT (ChangXin Memory Technologies) DDR5 memory to higher speeds, with validation reaching DDR5-8600 on the MEG Z890 UNIFY-X and DDR5-8200 on the PRO Z890-S WIFI. Both test platforms completed MemTest beyond 100% coverage, confirming stable operation during extended memory testing rather than a quick benchmark.
The new BIOS was developed specifically for CXMT memory chips. MSI refined memory training and timing behavior to improve compatibility at higher frequencies, removing a limitation that previously kept many CXMT DDR5 kits from reaching the speeds seen on modules built with Samsung, SK hynix, or Micron memory.
On the MEG Z890 UNIFY-X, MSI paired an Intel Core Ultra 5 245K processor with two 24GB CXMT DDR5 modules. The setup reached DDR5-8600 with 46-56-56-134 timings and completed MemTest beyond 100% coverage. Validation screenshots published by MSI show the memory maintaining the full DDR5-8600 speed throughout the stress test.
MSI carried the same tuning work to the PRO Z890-S WIFI, a four-DIMM motherboard. Running an Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus processor with two 16GB CXMT DDR5 modules, the board reached DDR5-8200 at 44-56-56-132 timings while passing the same MemTest workload. Four-DIMM motherboards are generally more difficult to run at very high memory frequencies, making this validation another step forward for mainstream platforms.

The updated tuning profiles are now part of MSI’s MEMORY TRY IT feature. Compatible CXMT memory kits can run pre-validated profiles directly from the BIOS without manually adjusting frequency, voltage, or memory timings. MSI plans to add more high-frequency profiles as additional validation is completed.
This follows MSI’s earlier work on AMD motherboards, where the company demonstrated CXMT DDR5 memory running beyond the long-standing DDR5-6800 barrier. The same optimization work is now available across MSI’s latest Intel and AMD motherboard platforms, giving CXMT memory better support on both ecosystems.
The BIOS is rolling out across MSI’s Intel 800-series motherboard lineup. The published validation covers the MEG Z890 UNIFY-X and PRO Z890-S WIFI, with additional motherboard models expected to receive the same memory optimizations through upcoming BIOS updates.
