GMKtec has introduced the EVO-X1 Pro, a premium mini PC powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor. Most mini PCs rely only on integrated graphics, but the EVO-X1 Pro also includes an OCuLink port for external GPUs. This allows users to connect a desktop graphics card when they need more graphics performance.
The combination of AI processing, expandable graphics, and a compact design makes the system a good fit for developers, content creators, and power users who want a small desktop without giving up flexibility.
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 CPU from AMD, which has 12 cores and 24 threads, powers the system. It has AMD’s newest XDNA 2 neural processing unit (NPU), which can achieve up to 55 TOPS of AI performance and can turbo up to 5.2GHz. GMKtec claims that the entire platform can achieve up to 86 TOPS for AI workloads, enabling customers to execute AI-powered applications and local AI models more effectively.
AMD’s integrated Radeon 890M GPU powers graphics. Without a dedicated graphics card, it can run GPU-accelerated creative software and contemporary games. Through the integrated OCuLink interface, users who require extra graphics performance can attach a compatible external GPU. Compared to many USB-based external GPU options, the PCIe 4.0 x4 connection offers more bandwidth.
GMKtec also includes its Claw AI ecosystem with the EVO-X1 Pro. The software is designed to help users run local AI applications and AI assistants directly on the mini PC, rather than relying entirely on cloud-based services.
The EVO-X1 Pro retains a chassis similar to the earlier EVO-X1 AI model but expands its connectivity options. Available ports include USB4, multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, two 2.5Gb Ethernet ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a dedicated OCuLink connector for external GPUs. Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Storage can be expanded through two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD slots, with support for up to 16TB in total.
GMKtec offers the EVO-X1 Pro with 64GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory, paired with either a 1TB or 2TB PCIe SSD. At launch, the company has not announced a 32GB configuration, leaving the 64GB model as the entry-level option in the lineup.
GMKtec has priced the EVO-X1 Pro at $1,599 for the configuration with 64GB of memory and a 1TB SSD, while the 2TB version costs $1,769. Both models are available through the company’s official online store. To mark the launch, GMKtec is offering a $20 discount on all configurations until August 15.
