AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition sold out within minutes, leaving many buyers unable to purchase the processor at its official $349 price. As retailer stock disappeared, resale listings quickly climbed to as much as $750 on eBay, with several completed sales showing buyers paying hundreds of dollars above MSRP.
The Anniversary Edition went on sale on June 25 for $349, making it $100 cheaper than the processor’s original $449 launch price in 2022. AMD brought the gaming CPU back to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the AM4 platform while giving existing AM4 users another upgrade option without replacing their motherboard or DDR4 memory.
Launch-day inventory vanished almost immediately. Several retailers sold out in less than 15 minutes, while others briefly came back into stock before selling out again. Even buyers who joined the sale as soon as orders opened struggled to secure a processor at the official price.
The shortage quickly fueled the resale market. New eBay listings ranged from around $600 to $750, while completed sales showed buyers paying between $540 and $650. In some cases, customers paid nearly twice the official retail price rather than waiting for new stock.
Demand remains high because the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is still a popular upgrade for AM4 users. Millions of PCs continue to run on AM4 motherboards with DDR4 memory, making the processor an affordable way to improve gaming performance without replacing an entire platform. For many gamers, upgrading a single processor costs far less than moving to a new motherboard, DDR5 memory, and AM5 processor.
AMD rebuilt the processor after the original manufacturing process was no longer available. The refreshed version is produced with TSMC’s second-generation hybrid SoIC bonding technology, placing the 3D V-Cache beneath the CPU die instead of above it. According to AMD, the updated design improves heat transfer while maintaining the gaming performance that made the original Ryzen 7 5800X3D so popular.
Each Anniversary Edition processor ships with Carbice Ice Pads, a premium thermal interface material that helps improve cooling efficiency. Together with the updated chip packaging, the processor offers meaningful changes beyond a new retail box.

AMD expects additional production to improve availability over the coming weeks. The company confirmed that the Anniversary Edition is not a one-time production run, meaning current shortages should ease as more processors reach retailers. As supply improves, prices are expected to return closer to the official $349 MSRP.
Some retailers still list the processor at its official price, although delivery estimates have moved further out because of the strong demand. Buyers who are willing to wait may still be able to purchase the processor without paying inflated reseller prices.
The rapid sellout highlights how active the AM4 platform remains in 2026. Even with newer AM5 processors on the market, many gamers continue looking for a faster CPU that works with their existing motherboard and DDR4 memory. The response to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition shows that demand for premium AM4 gaming hardware remains strong years after the platform first arrived.
