H3C MegaBook 2 2-in-1 Launches With Core Ultra 5 325 and 1,000-Nit OLED Display

H3C has introduced the MegaBook 2, a detachable 2-in-1 laptop powered by Intel’s Panther Lake platform. The new device features a high-brightness OLED display, a lightweight tablet design, and support for both Windows 11 and H3C’s MegaOS operating system.

Detachable Windows tablets remain a competitive category, with devices including the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 detachable tablet targeting similar portable productivity setups.

The MegaBook 2 uses the Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, an eight-core chip combining four Cougar Cove performance cores and four Darkmont low-power cores. The P-cores can reach up to 4.5 GHz, while the LP E-cores operate at speeds up to 3.4 GHz. The processor also integrates a four-core Xe3 GPU, providing graphics acceleration and improved power efficiency compared with the previous MegaBook generation.

Intel recently expanded the same architecture family with the Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus desktop processors aimed at high-performance desktop systems.

H3C pairs the processor with LPDDR5X memory, available in 16 GB or 32 GB configurations, along with up to 2 TB SSD storage depending on the model.

The device features a 14-inch OLED display with a 2.8K resolution (2880 × 1800) and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches up to 1,000 nits peak brightness, allowing the screen to display HDR content while remaining visible in brighter environments. The display uses a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing additional vertical workspace for productivity tasks.

Convertible designs continue appearing in modern productivity devices, including the Dynabook Portégé X45W convertible laptop built around a similar 14-inch portable form factor.

H3C designed the MegaBook 2 as a detachable tablet-style computer with an optional keyboard accessory. The tablet portion weighs 925 g (2.04 lb) without the keyboard attached, keeping the device under the one-kilogram mark.

Compact detachable systems have also appeared recently with devices including the Mouse M2 OLED 2-in-1 tablet focused on lightweight hybrid computing.

The system includes a 50 Wh battery, which is about 15% smaller than the previous MegaBook model, though the newer Panther Lake processor may help offset the reduction with improved efficiency.

Cooling is handled by a 24,500 mm² vapor-chamber cooling system in a fanless chassis, allowing the device to operate silently while maintaining stable performance.

The MegaBook 2 also includes a facial-recognition camera for secure login and supports dual operating systems. Users can run Windows 11 or MegaOS, H3C’s Android-based operating system, and switch between them depending on the task.

H3C plans to begin sales in China on April 11, though the company has not yet announced international pricing or global availability.
