Orico Launches Its First AMD Laptop with Ryzen 7 7840HS

Orico, a Chinese tech brand known for its external storage solutions and USB accessories, has officially entered the laptop market.

The company has introduced its first laptop equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor, combining strong performance with a portable design and excellent connectivity options.

Orico has built its reputation on high-speed hubs, SSDs, and docking stations, but this launch marks its expansion into complete computing systems, aiming to challenge established productivity laptop brands in its home market.

AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS Power in a Compact Frame

At the heart of the new Orico laptops is AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840HS, a 35-54W eight-core, sixteen-thread processor built on the Zen 4 architecture.

It also features a Radeon 780M integrated GPU based on AMD’s RDNA3 graphics architecture, which delivers excellent graphics performance for light gaming, content creation, and multimedia tasks.

With this configuration, Orico is targeting creators, developers, and business users who need a reliable machine that can handle multi-core workloads and 4K video playback without relying on a discrete GPU.

Display and Build Quality

This laptop features a 14-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing more vertical screen space for productivity tasks. Its resolution is reportedly 2.8K (2880 × 1800), providing sharp text and vibrant visuals for office work, browsing, and light creative projects.

The screen supports 100% sRGB color gamut and 400 nits of brightness, balancing clarity and energy efficiency.

Orico’s focus on portability is evident in its lightweight aluminum chassis, which weighs only 2.97 lbs (1.35 kg). The minimalist design and thin bezels give it a modern look, making it compliant with premium ultrabook standards.

Connectivity and Expansion Options

Like Orico, this new laptop stands out with its extensive I/O selection, which is rare in thin notebooks. Ports include:

  • 2 × USB4 Type-C ports
  • 2 × USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports
  • 1 × HDMI 2.0 port
  • 1 × 3.5mm audio jack
  • 1 × microSD card reader

This setup provides users with flexibility for docking, display output, and high-speed data transfer, continuing Orico’s reputation for robust connectivity design. The presence of dual USB4 ports allows for DisplayPort 1.4 video output and fast charging, ideal for multi-monitor setups.

Memory, Storage, and Battery

The Orico laptop comes standard with 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. This configuration ensures fast multitasking, fast boot times, and smooth performance in professional workloads.

As for battery life, Orico claims that the integrated 70Wh battery provides up to 12 hours of typical use on a single charge, supported by 100W PD fast charging via USB-C.

Performance and Thermal Design

To control the heat generated by the Ryzen 7 Chip, Orico uses a dual-fan cooling system with vapor chamber-style heat distribution. According to initial Chinese reviews, the fans remain relatively quiet under load and maintain stable temperatures.

The laptop’s integrated Radeon 780M graphics handle even light gaming games like Valorant, Apex Legends, and Genshin Impact at medium settings—reflecting Orico’s balanced approach between portability and performance.

Software and Security

The device runs Windows 11 Home, optimized for AMD’s Smart Access Memory (SAM) and hardware-level security. It also includes a fingerprint reader in the power button, as well as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for stable wireless connectivity.

Pricing and Availability

Orico’s new laptop will initially be available in China through JD.com and other online platforms. The base configuration with the Ryzen 7 7840HS, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD is priced at approximately ¥5,999 RMB (approximately $825 USD).

International availability hasn’t been announced yet, but given Orico’s strong presence in peripheral exports, a global version may become available later under the Ultra Performance or Orico Pro branding.
