Thunderobot Teases Zero Air 16 Laptop with RTX 5070

Thunderobot has started teasing a new 16-inch gaming laptop called the Zero Air 16 on Weibo, showcasing an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber build. The new model expands the product lineup from the original 15-inch version to a larger screen format. The manufacturer plans to show the notebook publicly at the Bilibili World 2026 event in Shanghai from July 10-12.

This lightweight build makes the notebook highly portable for users comparing designs in our list of the best gaming laptop under 1200. Despite the larger chassis needed for the 16-inch display, the notebook weighs just 1.64 kg (3.6 lbs). This weight check makes it only 60 grams (0.13 lbs) heavier than the smaller 15-inch variant that launched earlier this year.

The teaser indicates that the Zero Air 16 uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H processor, which is a 16-core chip from the Panther Lake family. For graphics, the laptop has an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. In addition to the next-generation components, the notebook includes 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of solid-state storage.

The 32GB LPDDR5 memory configuration provides substantial bandwidth for demanding applications, matching the specs featured in our guide to the best 32gb ram laptops. However, the Core Ultra 7 processor represents a slight downgrade compared to the flagship Core Ultra 9 chip found in the smaller 15-inch model. Attentive buyers will need to wait for independent reviews to see how this hardware configuration handles gaming heat.

The carbon fiber chassis is the primary factor that allows the manufacturer to keep the notebook’s weight low. For comparison, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 checks in at a heavier 1.96 kg (4.3 lbs), though that alternative supports up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU. Thunderobot has not yet confirmed the exact screen specifications or cooling configuration for the new model.

The Zero Air 16 will see a full retail release in August 2026, following its public showcase this month. The company has not yet announced official retail pricing or availability details for markets outside of China. Gamers interested in an ultra-lightweight desktop replacement can follow Weibo channels for local pre-order announcements.
