The PS5 Slim does not bring better gaming performance. It uses the same processor and graphics system as the original model. The main changes are a smaller design, more storage, and updated front ports.
Refurbished consoles are older units that have already been made and later repaired and tested. They are not tied to current manufacturing costs in the same way as new consoles, so rising production costs do not fully explain the higher pricing.

Refurbished consoles are limited in number. Increasing the price can slow down demand and keep stock available longer. It also keeps refurbished models closer in price to new ones.
At current prices, refurbished PS5 Slim models no longer offer a strong value advantage over new consoles. When the difference is small, many buyers are likely to choose a brand-new system instead of a refurbished one.
