Samsung Display has launched OBLYX, a new dedicated OLED brand for gaming laptops, during the Bilibili World 2026 event in China. This mark’s the company’s first-ever appearance at the large gaming and anime convention. SDC set up a massive exhibition booth covering nearly 300m² (about 3,230 square feet) to showcase around fifty display-equipped devices.
Display makers continue to expand their portfolios as OLED technology gains popularity in premium mobile hardware. This launch builds on SDC’s previous displays of thin laptop screens, such as the Samsung ultra-slim OLED panel shown at earlier trade events. Introducing a dedicated sub-brand helps the manufacturer establish a recognizable platform for high-end gaming laptops.

The name OBLYX comes from the word obsidian, which represents the deep black levels that OLED screens can generate. Because OLED panels do not require a backlight, they can turn off individual pixels completely to produce infinite contrast. SDC aims to use this technology to highlight premium contrast ratios and color performance in gaming notebooks.
Laptops utilizing these displays will compete with premium models like the upcoming Razer Blade 16, which also uses high-end screen technology. SDC hopes that establishing a distinct brand identity will encourage more notebook manufacturers to adopt its custom panels.
The OBLYX product catalog will offer three screen sizes, including 14-inch (about 35.6 cm), 16-inch (about 40.6 cm), and 18-inch (about 45.7 cm) display panels. These screen selections support fluid gameplay by offering refresh rates of 120Hz, 165Hz, and 240Hz depending on the configuration. To suit competitive gaming, the panels support an ultra-fast response time of 0.2 milliseconds.
In addition to fast response times, the screens cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut for high-fidelity content creation. Attentive buyers can expect the first OBLYX-branded laptops to hit the market later this year as hardware brands finalize their product lineups. Samsung Display will continue showing its new lineup to convention attendees throughout the weekend.
