A Japanese Amazon customer who ordered a single Intel Core i5-14400 processor ended up receiving a full box containing five retail units. The buyer shared a photo of the delivery on social media, showing five identical retail CPU packages side by side. According to the online post, the unexpected bundle left the customer highly surprised.
Commenters suggest the error occurred because the warehouse scanned a barcode printed on the outer shipping carton instead of individual items. This mistake caused the fulfillment database to treat the entire carton of five chips as a single product. Amazon has not confirmed the official reason behind the shipping mishap.

Many replies to the social media post advised the buyer to keep quiet, keep the extra chips, or sell them online. However, the customer decided to contact Amazon customer support to arrange a return for the four extra units. The buyer expressed minor frustration about having to go through the shipping and return hassle after the retailer’s logistical error.
The Core i5-14400 is a 65W LGA1700 desktop processor that has six Performance cores, four Efficient cores, and 16 threads. The chip includes 20MB of cache and reaches a maximum P-core boost frequency of 4.7 GHz. Following the return, the customer is left with the single chip originally ordered.
