AMD Targets 2027 Launch for RDNA 5 Radeon RX 10800 XT

AMD’s upcoming desktop graphics cards based on the RDNA 5 architecture are scheduled to arrive in mid-2027, ahead of initial supply chain expectations. The release timeline has been moved up from original 2028 targets in response to changes in the global DRAM supply. Insider channel Moore’s Law Is Dead reported the updated schedule, citing supply alerts sent to major OEMs for early benchmark batches.

This accelerated launch schedule aligns with Microsoft’s Xbox Helix console release planned for late 2027, which shares the same underlying RDNA 5 architecture. The early arrival also helps AMD challenge Nvidia’s future RTX 60 lineup, filling a gap where the brand currently lacks a high-end desktop solution. Attentive readers may recall that AMD has previously adjusted pricing for desktop parts like the AMD Radeon RX 9070 to stay competitive in the mid-range space.

At the top of the new lineup, the Radeon RX 10800 XT graphics card targets GeForce RTX 5090-level rasterization performance. AMD plans to offer the card at a maximum price of $1,000, aligning it directly with the pricing of the current GeForce RTX 5080. The early specification sheets indicate the GPU utilizes 24 GB of GDDR7 memory operating at 36 Gbps across a 256-bit bus.

These specs allow the card to reach a total memory bandwidth of 1.1 TB/s while drawing around 350 watts of power. These technical details remain preliminary, and the manufacturer could adjust final clocks and configurations before the official RDNA 5 rollout.
