ASUS ExpertBook B5 G2 Arrives With 50 TOPS AI and 19-Hour Battery

ASUS has introduced the ExpertBook B5 G2, a new business laptop powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 3 processors based on the Panther Lake platform. The company announced the device in Taipei on February 13. It is designed as a Copilot+ PC for companies planning to use AI features in Windows 11.

This model replaces the earlier ExpertBook B5, which used Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors. With the move to Series 3, the new version offers up to 50 TOPS of AI performance through Intel AI Boost. This level of AI power meets the requirements for Copilot+ PCs.

ASUS has kept the same overall design but improved performance and efficiency. The battery size remains 50Wh or 63Wh, but ASUS now claims up to 19 hours of battery life. The previous version offered around 15 hours. The longer battery life comes from improvements in Intel’s updated platform.

The ExpertBook B5 G2 will be available in two sizes: a 14-inch model (B5405CAA) and a 16-inch model (B5605CAA). Both use a 16:10 IPS display with resolution options of 1920×1200 or 2560×1600. Some models also support touch input. Brightness can reach up to 400 nits, depending on the configuration.

The laptop can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 366H processor. It uses integrated Intel graphics and supports up to 50 TOPS of AI performance. Memory can go up to 96GB of DDR5 5600 MT/s using two SO-DIMM slots. For storage, it supports a main PCIe 5.0 SSD and a second PCIe 4.0 slot.

For connectivity, the laptop includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, RJ45 Ethernet, microSD, and optional smart card support. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, along with Bluetooth 5.4 or Bluetooth 6.

Security is an important focus of this model. It includes TPM 2.0, dual BIOS protection, FIDO2 authentication, fingerprint login, and optional smart card access. ASUS also mentions five years of firmware and software updates. The BIOS design follows NIST SP 800-193 standards, though verification is still pending.

The device uses an aluminum body and meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards. The 14-inch version starts at around 1.38 kg, while the 16-inch model starts at about 1.79 kg. Thickness is just over 15 mm.

The ExpertBook B5 G2 shows how business laptops are now focusing more on AI performance along with traditional CPU speed. With up to 50 TOPS of AI power, it is designed to handle tasks like real-time transcription, summarizing documents, smarter search, and other AI features directly on the device instead of relying only on the cloud.

ASUS has not yet announced pricing or availability details. Both versions are listed on the company’s official website, suggesting that market availability will begin soon.
