ASUS Brings TUF Gaming Mini-ITX With New B850I WiFi NEO AM5 Board

ASUS is bringing the TUF Gaming lineup to Mini-ITX for the first time with the new TUF Gaming B850I WiFi NEO, a compact AM5 motherboard built for Ryzen desktop processors.

Based on AMD’s B850 chipset, the board supports Ryzen 7000, Ryzen 8000, and Ryzen 9000 CPUs, including newer chips like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. It uses an 8+2+1 power stage design rated at 80A, along with a 10-layer PCB and 2-ounce copper power planes.

Two DDR5 DIMM slots allow for up to 128GB of memory, with ASUS rating support for DDR5 speeds above 9600 MT/s when overclocked. Actual speeds will vary depending on processor and memory kit.

Expansion comes through a single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for graphics cards, matching support found on other recent AM5 motherboards. With Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 9000 processors installed, the slot delivers full Gen5 bandwidth. Ryzen 8000 chips lower that connection to PCIe 4.0.

Storage comes through two onboard M.2 slots. ASUS’s overview page advertises dual PCIe 5.0 M.2 support, though the detailed specifications list one PCIe 5.0 x4 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot instead.

Rear connectivity includes a USB 20Gbps Type-C port, two USB 10Gbps Type-A ports, one USB 5Gbps Type-A port, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, 2.5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E, and three audio jacks. BIOS FlashBack and Clear CMOS buttons are also built into the rear I/O panel.

The motherboard also carries ASUS extras such as AI Cache Boost, AI Advisor, AI Cooling II, Q-Antenna, Q-LED diagnostics, and a pre-mounted I/O shield.

Compared to the ROG Strix B850-I Gaming WiFi, the TUF version cuts back to Wi-Fi 6E, uses a lighter VRM setup, and trims premium audio and storage features in exchange for what should be a lower asking price, similar to ASUS’s broader segmentation strategy across its gaming hardware lineup.

ASUS has not shared pricing yet, but the board is expected to land below the $469.99 ROG Strix B850-I Gaming WiFi once retail listings appear.
