Gigabyte Lists Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D on X870 Board Ahead of June 30 Debut

Gigabyte has added AMD’s upcoming Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop processors to the CPU support list for its X870 AORUS TACHYON ICE motherboard. The update confirms support for the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D and several other unreleased chips before AMD’s June 30 debut.

The Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D combines AMD’s PRO platform with 3D V-Cache. Ryzen PRO chips are usually found in business desktops, while X3D processors are better known in gaming PCs. Seeing both on the same processor is uncommon.

Gigabyte’s support page lists the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D with 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, a 4.3 GHz base clock, boost speeds up to 5.5 GHz, 128MB of L3 cache, and a 170W TDP. The processor requires BIOS version F9 on the X870 AORUS TACHYON ICE.

The specifications are very close to the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Both chips feature 16 cores, 32 threads, 128MB of cache, and a 170W power rating. The PRO version adds business-focused security and management features.

The updated CPU support list reveals most of AMD’s upcoming desktop PRO lineup. Gigabyte now lists the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D, Ryzen 9 PRO 9965, Ryzen 9 PRO 9955, Ryzen 9 PRO 9945, Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D, Ryzen 7 PRO 9755, Ryzen 7 PRO 9745, Ryzen 5 PRO 9655, and Ryzen 5 PRO 9645.

This update is important because Ryzen PRO desktop processors have traditionally been sold through OEM business PCs and workstations. DIY builders rarely had the opportunity to buy them for custom systems.

The motherboard itself targets enthusiasts and overclockers. Seeing Ryzen PRO processors listed on a high-end retail X870 motherboard suggests AMD’s new desktop PRO lineup will not be limited to business hardware.

AMD has already confirmed June 30 as the debut date for the Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop family. With motherboard support already in place, the new processors appear ready for wider availability across the AM5 platform.
