Keychron Unveils Retro G4 and Ultralight G5 Gaming Mice With 8K Polling

Keychron has introduced two new wireless gaming mice in its G Series lineup, the G4 and G5, offering the same flagship internals in two very different designs and expanding its growing gaming peripheral portfolio. One leans into retro styling with a compact body, while the other focuses on ultralight performance with a carbon fiber shell.

Both mice use the PixArt PAW 3950 optical sensor and support up to 8,000Hz polling in wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes, matching features seen in other recent 8K wireless mice. Bluetooth 5.3 is also included for everyday wireless use. Keychron says the pair can reach latency as low as 0.41ms in 2.4GHz mode at 8K polling, with the figure based on LTT Labs testing. The company also advertises tracking speeds of up to 20,000 FPS.

The G4 is the more playful-looking option of the two. It uses an ABS shell with an off-white and reddish-brown finish inspired by retro hardware, along with pixel-style switches and toggles on the underside. The mouse weighs 55 g (1.94 oz), keeping it lightweight while maintaining a compact symmetrical shape.

The G5 takes a more performance-focused approach, targeting enthusiasts who prefer ultralight competitive gaming mice. It uses a carbon fiber shell and drops the weight to just 43 g (1.52 oz), making it one of the lightest mice Keychron has released so far. Even with the lower weight, the G5 has a slightly larger body than the G4 and uses a more traditional gaming design.

Both models use Huano Transparent Yellow Shell White Dot switches rated for 120 million clicks and include a 500mAh battery. Battery life reaches up to 34 hours at 8K polling. In Bluetooth mode, the G4 is rated for up to 130 hours, while the G5 reaches up to 162 hours. At 4K polling over 2.4GHz, runtime drops to 36 hours on the G4 and 38 hours on the G5. Lowering polling to 1K extends battery life to 130 hours and 153 hours respectively.

Customization is managed through Keychron Launcher, the company’s browser-based software that lets users adjust DPI, polling rate, macros, and onboard settings without installing a separate app, similar to its keyboard customization platform.

The G4 is priced at $79.99, while the lighter carbon fiber G5 comes in at $109.99 through Keychron’s online store.
