Kioxia’s Exceria G3 PCIe 5.0 SSD series is expanding in June 2026 with a new 4TB model. The high-capacity drive joins the existing 1TB and 2TB options in the mainstream Gen5 storage family. The model provides further options for users seeking entry-level SSDs for AI applications and gaming PC environments.
Unlike the lower-capacity configurations, the 4TB version uses high-density 2 Terabit (Tb) quad-level cell (QLC) NAND flash memory. This design allows Kioxia to offer a larger capacity while keeping manufacturing costs low and enabling improved power efficiency. For laptop users, fast NVMe storage remains a key component in the best SSD laptops.

The drive uses a DRAMless Phison E31T PCIe 5.0 controller paired with Kioxia’s eighth-generation BiCS FLASH QLC memory. It reaches sequential read speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 9,600 MB/s. The 4TB variant reaches random read and write speeds of up to 1.45 million IOPS and supports Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology to optimize data pathways.
The M.2 2280-S3-M drive weighs approximately 5.8 grams (0.01 lbs) and is compatible with client desktops and laptops. It supports NVMe 2.0c technology to reduce I/O latency between the drive and the CPU. Rather than a bulky heatsink, the drive uses specialized product labels to improve heat dissipation and maintain performance stability.
The drive has a write endurance rating of 2,400 Terabytes Written (TBW) and includes a five-year manufacturer’s warranty. Users can monitor drive health and check lifetime status using the Kioxia SSD Utility management software. Kioxia has not yet shared pricing details for the 4TB model, and regional availability may vary.
