Logitech’s latest Alto Keys Amber refresh brings wired connectivity to the K98M Plus and K98S Plus, turning the compact mechanical keyboards into full tri-mode models as more brands continue expanding wireless keyboard lineups.
The biggest change is USB-C wired support. Earlier versions used the USB-C port only for charging, but the new Plus variants now support wired data transfer and can operate at a 1,000Hz polling rate when connected by cable. This gives the keyboards a lower-latency option for users who prefer wired input, particularly for gaming and fast-response workloads.
Bluetooth Low Energy and Logitech Bolt wireless support remain in place, giving the keyboards three connection methods across wired and wireless use.
Internally, Logitech retains the UniCushion structure from the previous generation, keeping the same internal design philosophy as before.. The K98M Plus uses marble switches, while the K98S Plus comes equipped with light pink switches. Aside from the connectivity upgrade, the hardware remains largely unchanged.
Battery life is rated at up to 550 days under typical use, placing it among longer-lasting wireless peripherals in its class. Logitech has also added six white backlight modes, though RGB lighting is still not available.
Both models keep the same compact 98-key layout, preserving the numpad while reducing the footprint compared to a standard full-size keyboard, similar to other space-saving mechanical designs.
In China, pricing starts at 399 yuan (about $48) for the Alto Keys Amber K98M Plus and 499 yuan (about $60) for the K98S Plus.
