Microsoft has increased prices across its Surface PC lineup, with some models now costing up to $500 more than when they first launched.
The company confirmed that the adjustment is tied to higher memory and component costs affecting its current-generation Surface hardware portfolio.
Among the biggest changes, the Surface Pro 13-inch and Surface Laptop 13.8-inch now start at $1,499, up from their original $999 launch pricing in 2024.
Microsoft’s lower-priced Surface models have also moved higher. The Surface Pro 12-inch now starts at $1,049 instead of $799, while the Surface Laptop 13-inch rises from $899 to $1,149.
The Surface Laptop 15-inch has increases from $1,299 to $1,599, reflecting broader price increases across premium laptop categories. At the high end, a fully configured model with Snapdragon X Elite, 64GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage now reaches $3,649, featuring one of Qualcomm’s latest premium laptop chips.
Several Surface configurations had already seen pricing adjustments in 2025, making this the second increase for some models since launch amid broader PC pricing pressure.
Microsoft’s premium pricing now places its top Surface Laptop 15-inch above Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro in similarly equipped configurations, further intensifying competition in the premium notebook segment. Apple’s comparable MacBook Pro setup starts at $3,299, below Microsoft’s $3,649 asking price.
The latest adjustments make Microsoft’s Surface lineup notably more expensive than at launch and further push the brand into premium pricing territory.
