MSI has announced the MEG X870E GODLIKE X Edition, a limited-production AM5 motherboard released to commemorate 10 years of the GODLIKE series. The company has limited production to just 1,000 units worldwide, making this board a collectible flagship rather than a standard retail product.
Each motherboard comes with a numbered gold nameplate, a dedicated display stand, and MSI’s Black Lucky plush, giving the X Edition a presentation that clearly sets it apart from the regular GODLIKE model.
Anniversary Edition Built on Existing X870E GODLIKE Design
Despite the special packaging, the GODLIKE X Edition is entirely based on MSI’s existing X870E GODLIKE platform. MSI has confirmed that the internal hardware remains unchanged, meaning buyers get the same performance and capabilities as the standard model.
This motherboard supports AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series processors on the AM5 socket and offers DDR5 memory overclocking exceeding 9000 MT/s when used with supported configurations.
Power Delivery and Cooling for High-End Ryzen Workloads
The board utilizes a 24+2+1 phase power delivery layout with 110A smart power stages, paired with a 10-layer PCB made with 2oz copper. This configuration is designed for sustained operation with high-end Ryzen CPUs, rather than mainstream gaming systems. Cooling is managed by MSI’s Frozr thermal design, which includes a full metal backplate, direct-touch heat pipes, double-sided M.2 heatsinks, and high-performance thermal pads that help maintain stability under heavy loads.
Multiple Storage Options with PCIe Gen 5 Support
Storage expansion remains a key focus of the platform. The motherboard includes five onboard M.2 slots, with PCIe Gen 5 support where the platform bandwidth allows. MSI also bundles the M.2 XPANDER-Z SLIDER GEN5 add-in card, which adds two additional Gen 5 M.2 slots and allows for tool-free SSD access from the rear of the system.
In total, this platform can support up to seven M.2 drives depending on CPU selection and PCIe lane allocation. Integrated LCD and Cleaner Cable Routing
A standout visual feature is MSI’s Dynamic Dashboard III, a 3.99-inch full-color LCD integrated directly into the motherboard. This display shows system monitoring data, debug codes, BIOS update status, and user-defined information.
MSI has also included its EZ Link system, which routes front-panel, fan, and RGB connections through an external hub. This design reduces cable clutter and simplifies assembly in complex showcase builds.
Connectivity Suitable for Flagship Desktop Systems
Connectivity reflects the board’s top-tier positioning. The MEG X870E GODLIKE X edition offers 10Gb Ethernet alongside 5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, USB4, multiple high-speed USB Type-C ports, and a 64MB BIOS ROM, designed to support AM5 platform updates for the long term. Audio is handled by the Realtek ALC4082 codec with an ESS DAC, catering to users who want high-quality onboard audio without relying on external solutions.

Limited Production and Premium Pricing
MSI has confirmed that only 1,000 units of the GODLIKE X edition will be produced, each individually numbered. It is priced at approximately $1,300 in the US, firmly placing it in the halo product category.
Because the hardware is identical to the standard GODLIKE board, the X edition is primarily aimed at collectors, display-focused system builders, and long-time MSI enthusiasts, rather than users seeking maximum value for their money.
A Commemorative Release Rather Than a New Chipset Milestone
The MEG X870E GODLIKE X edition doesn’t introduce new chipset features or exclusive performance capabilities. Instead, it serves as a symbolic release that commemorates a decade of MSI’s GODLIKE branding through limited availability and premium presentation.
For most users, the standard X870E GODLIKE offers the same technical experience. For collectors, the X edition is a rare anniversary piece tied to MSI’s flagship motherboard history.
