A buyer of a new NZXT C1500 Platinum power supply has discovered a deformed and damaged contact on the included 12VHPWR power cable right out of the box. Upon closer visual inspection, one of the pins in the connector appeared warped and melted before any electricity passed through it. The customer questioned the safety of this component, given the history of these connectors melting under high loads.
Using a compromised power connector poses a severe risk of hardware failures and electrical fires. PC builders are particularly cautious about power delivery since newer standards like 12V-2×6 aim to resolve structural issues found in older cables. Connecting a damaged cable to an expensive graphics card could result in permanent burn damage that voids product warranties.

The customer contacted NZXT technical support to request a free replacement for the defective cable. However, representatives refused the request and stated that the power cord was fully functional. The tech support agent declared the unit safe for standard power loads despite the visual deformity.
The buyer is now reluctant to use the included cable to protect their expensive PC components. Options to resolve the issue include purchasing a custom third-party cable from Amazon or contacting NZXT again to offer to pay for the shipping cost. Ultimately, the customer must decide whether to trust the manufacturer’s safety assurance or buy a replacement themselves.
