ASUS Launches 3000W ROG Thor PSU With Support for Four RTX 5090 GPUs

ASUS has announced the ROG Thor 3000W Titanium III Edition 20, a special-edition power supply created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. With a massive 3000W rating, this is one of the most powerful consumer power supplies released so far.

The new PSU is built for extreme PC setups, including AI workstations, rendering systems, and multi-GPU builds. ASUS says it can power up to four GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards in a single system, something far beyond what most gaming PCs require.

To support those high-end builds, ASUS includes four 16-pin ROG Equalizer power cables in the box. One is a GPU-First cable, while the other three are standard ROG Equalizer cables for multi-GPU systems. The PSU also comes with four native 12V-2×6 connectors, so users do not need adapter cables for modern graphics cards.

The ROG Thor supports the latest ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards and carries an 80 Plus Titanium efficiency rating. ASUS has also used a server-grade GaN MOSFET design, which helps improve power efficiency and reduce heat.

The power supply can provide up to 250A on the 12V rail when running at its full 3000W capacity. The company has also included its GPU-First Intelligent Voltage Stabilizer technology, which is designed to keep power delivery steady during heavy workloads and overclocking.

The new Thor PSU still includes the OLED display that shows real-time power usage, a feature found on earlier Thor models. ASUS has improved it by making the display detachable, so users can place it in a different spot inside the case.

ASUS has also included Aura Sync RGB lighting and support for 0dB fan operation. During lighter workloads, the fan can stop spinning completely to reduce noise. Users can switch between semi-passive and continuous cooling modes depending on their preference.

U.S. buyers should keep one important limitation in mind. The power supply can deliver its full 3000W output only when connected to a 220V–240V power source. On the standard 115V outlets used in most North American homes, maximum output is limited to 1600W.

The first retail listings show a price of €999, which about $1,150. That puts the ROG Thor 3000W Titanium III Edition 20 firmly in the ultra-premium category.

ASUS is not marketing this power supply to the average gamer. Instead, it is aimed at users building powerful workstations for AI projects, 3D rendering, content creation, and other demanding tasks.

ASUS is backing the power supply with a 10-year warranty. The PSU is also designed to support the latest GeForce RTX 50 Series and Radeon RX 9000 Series graphics cards, making it suitable for high-end gaming and workstation builds.

Most PC users will never need a 3000W power supply, but the ROG Thor 3000W Titanium III Edition 20 highlights how much power modern high-end systems can require. As AI workloads, powerful graphics cards, and advanced computing hardware continue to grow, power supplies are evolving to keep up with those demands.
