Purism’s new flagship laptop, the Librem 16, is now available with built-in hardware kill switches and the open-source PureOS platform. The 16-inch portable computer uses an Intel Core i7-13620H processor and supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory. Built to prevent digital surveillance, the laptop disables user tracking and telemetry by default.
The key security feature consists of hardware kill switches that physically disconnect the webcam, microphone, wireless antennas, and Bluetooth module to block unauthorized remote access. PureOS, a Debia-based Linux distribution endorsed by the Free Software Foundation, runs on the device with no advertisements or metrics-reporting services. The laptop also supports PureBoot and a Librem Key to identify software or hardware tampering.

Unlike mainstream business options such as the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7, this model has a disabled Intel Management Engine to prevent manufacturer backdoors. The Core i7-13620H processor contains ten cores and sixteen threads, clocking up to 4.9 GHz. Graphics workloads are handled by Intel UHD Graphics, which are suitable for basic visual tasks and light gaming.
The 16-inch display uses a 16:10 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and sits inside a high-quality aluminum chassis with no branding on the lid. Connection ports include two full-featured USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort support, alongside two USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and an HDMI output. The laptop weighs 1.8 kg and includes a full-size backlit keyboard with standard key travel.
