HP has updated its HyperX OMEN 15 gaming laptop, adding high-end configuration options that pair Intel Arrow Lake HX processors with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics. The 15.3-inch notebook now supports Intel’s latest 24-core Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus chip. The new hardware options are currently appearing in HP’s online configurator for custom builds.
This premium model is aimed at enthusiasts who want peak settings, while budget-conscious buyers can check alternative configurations. The entry-level model includes 16GB of DDR5 memory, though buyers can select up to 32GB of RAM to run alongside high-speed storage, similar to other new Gigabyte 16-inch gaming laptops. HP also supports up to 1TB of PCIe Gen5 solid-state storage.

The top-tier Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor has 8 Performance cores and 16 Efficient cores, with a base power of 55W and a maximum turbo clock of 5.5 GHz. For graphics tasks, the laptop uses an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU running on the Blackwell architecture, which also powers the latest Lenovo Legion 5 15IAX11. HP previously focused on lower-power Core Ultra 7 356H and Core Ultra 9 386H chips for this model line.
In addition to the Intel versions, HP offers an AMD variant of the notebook that starts at a lower base price of $1,699 USD. This AMD notebook uses either Ryzen 7 8745HX or Ryzen 9 8940HX processors. However, the Ryzen 9 option on the AMD board is restricted to the slower GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU.

Buyers can choose between a standard 165Hz IPS screen, a faster 180Hz IPS panel, or a high-contrast 120Hz OLED display. The OLED display option has a 2880 x 1800 resolution and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The laptop also uses a HyperX-branded keyboard with an 8000Hz polling rate that lowers key input latency to 7.3 milliseconds.
The HP HyperX OMEN 15 configuration with the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and RTX 5070 starts at $2,779 USD. The notebook is available to customize and order directly on HP’s official web store. Interested gamers can configure their display and memory options before completing checkout.
