AMD Ryzen AI Halo Box With Max+ 395, June Release Window Expected

AMD previewed its Ryzen AI Halo Box at an AI developer event, outlining a compact desktop centered on the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 paired with 128GB of unified memory. The demo unit ran Ubuntu and was clearly aimed at local AI work rather than gaming.

Information from an attendee indicates the device on display carried the full Max+ 395 configuration, with no lower-tier variant mentioned. That points to a single, fixed configuration designed for developers instead of a range of consumer options.

The Halo platform is built around local AI execution. Support for ROCm gives developers access to tools commonly used for model development and inference, and the platform works across both Linux and Windows environments. This setup allows AI workloads to run directly on the device without relying on cloud access.

Memory capacity is one of the main highlights. With up to 128GB of unified memory, the Halo Box can support large models that typically require higher local resources, a requirement highlighted in systems such as Minisforum N5 Max NAS. This makes it suitable for tasks such as model testing, fine-tuning, and development workflows.

The unit shown at the event also featured a programmable front light strip. Linux driver activity suggests this lighting can be customized, pointing to software-level control over visual elements.

AMD has previously indicated a second-quarter timeline for the Halo platform. A June release fits within that window, although the company has not confirmed a specific date or pricing.

This device enters a growing segment of compact AI desktops. Several products built around the same Max+ 395 processor are already give in mini PCs and other small-form devices. That means AMD’s own unit will need to differentiate through pricing or software support rather than hardware alone.

AMD first outlined the Ryzen AI Halo platform at CES 2026 as a solution for local AI workloads. Internal references to “Halo Box” have also appeared in development code, confirming the naming used for this product.

The demonstration signals that the Halo Box is moving closer to release, with more details expected as AMD approaches its planned launch window.
