Dell Releases 14S and 16S Laptop With Intel Panther Lake Chips and OLED Panels

Dell introduced the new 14S and 16S laptops with Intel Panther Lake processors, slim aluminum chassis designs, OLED display options, and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity for the premium mid-range notebook segment. The refreshed lineup replaces the older Dell Plus branding while moving to Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 3 platform with faster integrated graphics, stronger AI acceleration, and thinner chassis designs.

The Dell 14S comes with processor options ranging from the Intel Core Ultra 5 322 up to the Core Ultra 9 386H depending on configuration and region. Some markets receive the higher-end Core Ultra X7 358H variant as well. Intel NPUs reach up to 49 TOPS depending on hardware configuration, allowing support for Copilot+ PC features and local AI acceleration.

Higher-tier Panther Lake models switch to Intel Arc graphics with 12Xe cores, while entry-level versions remain on standard Intel Graphics. Dell offers the newer Arc hardware can deliver up to 50% faster graphics performance compared with previous-generation integrated graphics platforms.

Display configurations vary heavily between regions. Chinese versions of the Dell 14S feature a 2560 × 1600 IPS panel with adaptive 48–120Hz refresh support and brightness reaching up to 500 nits. North American models instead focus more heavily on OLED touchscreen options with FHD+ resolution, Gorilla Glass protection, and full 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.

Dell currently limits the OLED panels to 60Hz despite the higher-end positioning and stronger color performance. That decision already stands out in a category where more premium ultraportables are starting to move toward higher refresh OLED displays.

The larger Dell 16S expands the same platform into a 16-inch form factor with optional 2.8K OLED touchscreen configurations, a full numeric keypad, and a larger workspace aimed at multitasking, productivity, and creator-focused workloads. Both laptops keep a taller 16:10 aspect ratio alongside slim aluminum chassis construction.

Dell offers the refreshed lineup in Frost Blue and Celestial Blue depending on configuration. The Dell 14S measures just 15.3 mm thick and weighs between 3.20 lbs (1.45 kg) and 3.40 lbs (1.54 kg) depending on display choice. The larger 16S reaches between 3.95 lbs (1.79 kg) and 4.10 lbs (1.86 kg).

Connectivity remains strong for the category. Both laptops carry dual Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and Power Delivery support, HDMI 2.1, dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and a global headset jack.

Dell comes with the RGB-IR webcams supporting AI auto-framing alongside dual-array microphones for video calls and remote work. Audio hardware features stereo speakers powered by Cirrus Logic SmartAmps with 4W total output.

The cooling layout receives upgrades as well. Dell redesigned the airflow structure with precision-drilled ventilation intended to improve thermal efficiency while reducing fan noise during sustained workloads.

Battery hardware remains identical across both models with a 70Wh battery paired with 65W USB-C charging support. Dell appears to be prioritizing portability, battery efficiency, and quieter thermals over aggressive performance scaling inside the slim chassis.

Dell continues pushing sustainability heavily across the refreshed lineup. According to the company, the laptops contain recycled aluminum, post-consumer recycled plastics, recycled cobalt battery materials, and packaging built from renewable or recycled materials.

US pricing starts at $1,319 for base configurations, while higher-end OLED variants with Core Ultra 9 hardware move beyond $2,000 depending on configuration. Chinese pricing for the Dell 14S currently ranges from 10,999 yuan to 14,499 yuan.
