A custom PC builder has shared an unusual wall-mounted computer layout placed directly beneath a room’s air conditioner vent. The Reddit user Think_Speaker_6164 chose to build the hardware on an open-frame rack instead of utilizing a traditional closed PC case. The entire frame is secured to guide rails high on the wall to capture a constant supply of chilled air.
The framing consists of structural aluminum machined profiles that support the components. Attentive discussion participants noticed that the PC uses a legacy server motherboard, which appears to be a Gigabyte MU70-SU0 board with an Intel C612 chipset. The motherboard is identified by its dual UTP Ethernet ports, along with older VGA and PS/2 ports on the rear connector panel.

Because of the direct airflow from the room’s air conditioning unit, the computer operates without massive cooling fans or heatsinks. However, the custom setup has sparked a heated debate regarding its safety. Many commenters expressed concerns about water damage because an automatic ceiling sprinkler for the building’s fire protection layout is located close to the exposed electronics.
Other users pointed out potential long-term issues such as rapid dust accumulation and vulnerability to household insects. In addition to safety worries, viewers noticed the complete lack of visible power cables running down the wall. This makes the finished hardware resemble a clean art installation rather than a working workstation.
