Geeks updates Strix Halo mini PC EVO-X2: 128GB RAM, 1TB HDD, $3499

GMKtec has updated its EVO-X2 mini-PC with a new model that reduces the storage capacity to lower the entry price. The updated desktop retains its high-end AMD Strix Halo platform and 128GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory, but swaps the prior 2TB SSD for a smaller 1TB drive. This new variant checks in at $3499 (about RMB 23739) on the official website, which is $150 (about RMB 1018) cheaper than the initial version.

The desktop operates on a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor featuring 16 CPU cores, 32 threads, and Zen 5 architecture. Integrated graphics are handled by a Radeon 8060S iGPU with 40 Compute Units, which allows users to assign up to 96GB of memory as graphics memory. According to benchmark reports, the 128GB memory model runs Qwen3:235B local artificial intelligence models at an average speed of 11 tokens per second.

The compact case measures 193×185.8×77 mm (about 7.6 x 7.3 x 3.0 inches) and occupies roughly 1/20th the space of a standard desktop. To maintain stable temperatures, the enclosure includes a dual-fan and three-heatpipe cooling assembly that supports a peak performance release of 140W. On the other hand, the cooling setup operates at a quiet 120W stable output during heavy loading.

For hardware expansion, the motherboard includes dual M.2 2280 slots that support up to 8TB of storage per slot. In addition to internal storage slots, the front panel includes two USB-A 10Gbps ports, one USB-C 40Gbps port, an SD card reader, and an audio jack. The rear panel provides one HDMI 2.1 port, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two USB-A 2.0 ports, and another USB-C 40Gbps port.

Networking capabilities are handled by two 2.5GbE wired ports alongside an RZ717 wireless card supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The chassis also features matrix-style light-transmitting vents on both the front and back for custom RGB lighting effects. Buyers can pre-order the updated model directly from the official web store starting today.
