Keychron K5 Ultra 8K Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard Launches

The new Keychron K5 Ultra 8K wireless mechanical keyboard is now available for purchase starting at $114.99 (about 835 Yuan). Following the recent launches of the K4 Ultra, K10 Ultra, and Keychron V10 Ultra, this full-size model includes a programmable knob and dedicated macro keys. The keyboard is currently available in black on the official Keychron online store and Amazon.

Buyers looking for a low-latency typing tool can choose between wired and wireless operation modes. The new model shares ZMK firmware and wireless connectivity options with the smaller Keychron K3 Ultra. Having access to multiple connection options makes it easier to manage several desk setups at once.

The keyboard case is made of ABS plastic with anodized aluminum top and bottom rails, accented by natural rosewood side panels. With a front height of 15.55 mm, the chassis uses two-stage flip-out feet to offer different typing angles for comfort. Keychron uses its LSA profile double-shot PBT keycaps, which resist shining and wear over time.

Beneath the keycaps, the keyboard has north-facing RGB LEDs that support over 22 custom lighting effects. Keychron also includes layered acoustic dampening, using IXPE acoustic foam, EPDM foam, and PET film to reduce unwanted vibrations and typing noise.

The keyboard has a total weight of 720 grams (about 1.59 lbs) and is powered by a 2,600 mAh rechargeable battery. This battery provides up to 370 hours of use on a single charge with the backlighting disabled, even when running at the maximum 8,000 Hz polling rate. Users can customize every key, shortcut, and knob command in their browser using the Keychron Launcher web application.

To suit different typing styles, the hot-swappable design supports self-lubricating Milk POM linear Red, tactile Brown, and strong tactile Banana switches. Actuation forces check in at 45 gf for the linear Reds, 50 gf for the Browns, and 57 gf for the Banana switches. Shipments of the new full-size mechanical keyboard are currently preparing to dispatch to early buyers.
