LG has opened pre-orders in Japan for the UltraGear 32GX870B, a 31.5-inch OLED gaming monitor that reaches up to 1500 nits and supports a dual refresh mode up to 480Hz. Pricing is set at ¥169,800 (around $1,081), with shipping scheduled for June 11.
It comes with LG’s 4th-generation Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel. This design stacks four light-emitting layers instead of three, allowing higher brightness without raising power draw. SDR brightness is rated at 335 nits, while HDR peaks at 1500 nits. That is roughly a 20% increase over the previous generation, which stayed closer to the 1000-nit range.
The monitor keeps its 3840 × 2160 resolution but adds a flexible refresh setup. In standard mode, it runs at 4K 240Hz. Switching to Full HD unlocks a 480Hz mode aimed at competitive play, a direction also reflected in ultra-high refresh developments such as the TCL CSOT 640Hz Dual Mode Panel Q3 2026. The display area can also be resized to 27 inches or 24.5 inches in this mode, matching common esports screen sizes used in tournaments.
Response time is rated at 0.03 ms (GTG), keeping motion sharp during fast gameplay. Variable refresh support includes Adaptive-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, helping maintain smooth output across different hardware setups.
Color performance remains strong with 99.5% DCI-P3 coverage and Delta E values under 2, supporting accurate color output across different brightness levels. The panel also carries certifications such as VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 along with UL Perfect Black and Perfect Color.
LG includes three AI-driven features aimed at improving everyday use. AI Upscaling sharpens lower-resolution content to better match the 4K panel. AI Sound separates voices and effects for clearer audio output. AI Scene Optimization adjusts picture settings automatically depending on whether the content is a game, video, or document.

OLED care features are included to reduce burn-in risk during long-term use. A low blue light mode is also present without shifting color tones, keeping the image consistent.
Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1, two HDMI ports, and USB Type-C with 90W power delivery. A USB hub and headphone jack are also included. The monitor integrates dual 7W speakers, which is still uncommon in this segment.
The stand supports height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and pivot, allowing flexible positioning for different setups.
Compared to earlier UltraGear OLED models, this version increases brightness, adds a higher refresh option, and expands feature support. Most competing 4K OLED monitors remain limited to 240Hz and do not offer a 480Hz mode alongside this level of brightness.
LG has not confirmed global availability yet, but the Japan rollout suggests wider release details may follow soon.
