Microsoft is moving its commercial Surface lineup back toward Intel hardware with a new group of business-focused devices, including the Surface Laptop 8, Surface Pro 12, and the smaller Surface Laptop 13-inch. The refresh brings Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, higher memory limits, upgraded displays, and newer AI PC features across the lineup.
The microsoft also marks a noticeable shift in pricing. Higher-end configurations now move well beyond the $4,000 range depending on RAM, storage, and connectivity options, pushing the commercial Surface family deeper into premium enterprise territory.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 8
The Surface Laptop 8 receives the largest update of the three systems. Microsoft is offering both 13.8-inch and 15-inch versions powered by Intel Panther Lake processors up to the Core Ultra X7 368H. Intel Arc B390 graphics also appear in the Surface lineup for the first time.
Display quality gets a noticeable bump on the larger model. The 15-inch version now moves to a 3270 × 2180 panel, increasing pixel density from 201 PPI to 262 PPI. Both sizes continue using PixelSense Flow IPS displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz.
Microsoft is also adding several business-focused features this generation. Selected configurations include a hardware privacy filter that can reduce visibility from side angles in public spaces. The updated haptic touchpad now supports Windows 11 tactile feedback interactions, including snapping windows and interface alignment cues.
Memory configurations reach up to 64GB LPDDR5X, while SSD capacity goes up to 1TB. Microsoft lists battery life at up to 21 hours of local video playback depending on configuration.

Microsoft Surface Pro 12
The Surface Pro 12 keeps the familiar detachable design but switches to Intel Panther Lake hardware for business customers. Processor options include the Core Ultra 5 335 and Core Ultra 7 366H paired with up to 64GB LPDDR5X memory.
Unlike the Surface Laptop 8, the Surface Pro 12 stays with standard Intel Arc integrated graphics instead of the higher-end Arc B390 solution.
Microsoft is offering both IPS and OLED display options with refresh rates up to 120Hz. Battery size changes depending on the panel choice, with 47Wh packs used on IPS models and larger 53Wh batteries included with OLED configurations.
Optional 5G connectivity is available at launch, alongside Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.
The refreshed Surface Slim Pen also adds support for Windows 11 haptic feedback features, giving pen interactions more physical response during writing and drawing tasks.
Pricing starts at $1,949 in the US, while 5G models begin around $2,249.99.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 13-inch
The smaller Surface Laptop 13-inch also moves to Intel hardware this generation, sitting below the flagship Surface Laptop 8 in Microsoft’s commercial lineup.
One of the larger upgrades comes from the display. Brightness now reaches up to 500 nits in SDR mode, roughly 25% higher than the earlier version. Microsoft is also adding an anti-reflective coating to improve visibility in brighter environments.
Configurations include Intel Panther Lake processors paired with up to 24GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD storage.
The overall chassis design remains close to the previous generation, though Microsoft continues positioning the smaller model toward users looking for a more compact business notebook.
Battery life is rated at up to 22 hours of local video playback depending on configuration.
