Minisforum EliteMini M2 Launches With 90 TOPS AI Performance

Minisforum has officially launched the EliteMini M2 globally, a compact AI-focused mini PC powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra platform. Built for local AI workloads, multitasking, and space-saving workstation setups, the small desktop combines Intel Arc graphics, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and support for up to 128GB of DDR5 memory in a chassis compact enough to fit almost anywhere, similar to other recent AI-focused mini PC launches.

The EliteMini M2 is powered by Intel’s Panther Lake-based Core Ultra 7 356H processor, which features 16 cores and 16 threads along with integrated Intel Arc graphics. According to Minisforum, the system can deliver up to 90 TOPS of combined AI performance by using the CPU, GPU, and integrated NPU together for local AI workloads and on-device AI inference.

The EliteMini M2 joins a quickly growing category of small desktop computers intended to run local large language models, edge AI computing tasks, and media workloads without fully relying on cloud services, as AI-ready mini PCs continue to gain traction among developers, creators, and productivity users working with local AI systems.

The mini PC measures just 130 × 127 × 50 mm and weighs around 520 grams, making it a good fit for compact office setups, home media stations, edge deployments, and portable workstation environments. Minisforum is positioning the EliteMini M2 as a small workstation PC capable of handling productivity tasks, AI acceleration, media streaming, and multitasking workloads while still keeping power consumption relatively low.

Memory and storage expansion are among the biggest highlights of the system, especially as newer compact PCs continue pushing higher DDR5 capacities. The EliteMini M2 supports dual-channel DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM memory configurations with capacities reaching up to 128GB. Storage support includes dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD slots capable of handling up to 8TB of total storage capacity.

Minisforum is also putting a strong focus on local AI processing with the EliteMini M2. According to the company’s product materials, the system is built to handle local AI inference and quantized large language models by combining NPU and GPU acceleration. Minisforum specifically highlights local LLM workloads, reflecting the wider industry shift toward on-device AI computing instead of relying entirely on cloud-based processing.

The system includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual 2.5GbE LAN ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB4 with 40Gbps bandwidth, and multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports. According to Minisforum, the mini PC can power up to three 4K displays at the same time, making it a strong option for creators, developers, and productivity-focused users who need a compact multi-monitor setup.

The inclusion of USB4 also gives users the option to connect an external GPU for heavier gaming or more demanding GPU-accelerated workloads through modern high-bandwidth external connectivity. While the integrated Intel Arc graphics are not meant for high-end AAA gaming, the EliteMini M2 is aimed more at AI acceleration, media streaming, productivity work, and lighter creative tasks.

The EliteMini M2 is a reasonably energy-efficient substitute for bigger desktop workstations, drawing about 47W at full system load. Low power consumption, AI acceleration, and small size all point to a larger trend in the industry toward PCs with AI capabilities that can process AI locally without totally depending on cloud infrastructure.

The EliteMini M2 faces competition from ASUS NUC, Geekom, and Beelink systems, alongside newer Panther Lake mini PCs entering the AI desktop category. However, the EliteMini M2 may stand out in the expanding AI tiny PC market thanks to Minisforum’s mix of large memory capacity, local AI support, USB4 connectivity, and competitive cost.

Pricing starts at around $575 for the barebones version without RAM or storage. Higher-end configurations with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD are also available, although pricing varies depending on the region and market availability.

The EliteMini M2 is shaping up to be one of the more aggressively positioned Intel Core Ultra mini PCs entering the AI desktop market. Despite its compact size, the system supports high-capacity DDR5 memory, local AI inference, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and multiple expansion options in a palm-sized chassis.
